Unique. Hypercard has now officially entered the market with a unique value proposition -> "the first consumer credit card that companies can offer to their employees" in partnership with American Express, Deserve and Celtic Bank. For companies: Hypercard offers a streamlined approach to accounting and claims to reduce business spend, consolidate vendor costs and encourage "employee unity." For employees: Hypercard is a no-annual-fee metal credit card with an APR of 28.99% - 31.99% that earns rewards, gives instant access to expense reimbursements and easy access to company benefits like TSA PreCheck. A lot to unpack. 💡Backed by Sam. Probably the first thing that stands out is that this card has some pretty high-profile backers most notably OpenAI CEO Sam Altman. If one of Time Magazine's most influential people is backing your product, you should shout it to the rooftops, and they have with Altman's face and quote front and center on the slick-looking website👇. 💡💡Onto something, but what? This product clearly has some unique and innovative aspects to it. Consolidating workplace perks in one place and getting instant expense reimbursements are clearly benefits that employees will value. On the other hand, do employees really want "one product to rule them all" by combining business and personal expenses on one card? Personally, these are expenses I want to keep separate, and with value props on consumer cards so strong these days it will be a challenge to convince consumers otherwise. 💡💡💡Unpacking the unity pitch. One of the key messages for companies is that this will be "inclusive and accessible" with company branding to make employees feel proud. There is a statement that the card is "available to all of your employees regardless of credit" which is a message I've never seen before that could lead to unintended/negative consequences. The high APR indicates a risky product that needs to cover potential losses. 💡💡💡💡 Messaging. Companies are the target (CFOs and HR according to the website) but employees also need to be convinced if they are going to use Hypercard for personal spending. The launch video hints at an aspirational vision of the benefits of Amex-style "membership" and bringing that to life will be the challenge. Member of what? My company? 👏Overall, I love seeing the innovation, and it will be fascinating to see the marketing rollout as this product evolves. #innovation #unique #marketing #advertising #corporate

I kind of agree with the core premise of this article, but I think it overlooks one of the usability (and security) dangers. Companies absolutely do need to support crypto wallets, but for users, having a distinct, disconnected crypto wallet for every individual site and app is madness and no better than centralized model. In an ideal world, mature, knowledgable crypto wallet users want to own and control their own assets and information. That mean controlling the private keys independently - not requiring a third party for access to your on chain assets or information. The way to do that is to have your own wallet (not a different wallet for every single site and app) and if you believe your on chain assets and information is valuable, secure it with something like Arculus Wallet. https://lnkd.in/e-7k8ccg
