- Social media is a key way to educate consumers about dietary supplements, but misinformation challenges unified messaging. - Sharing authentic, research-backed content would create trust between consumers and dietary supplement brands. - Self-regulating product claims and promises is crucial to ensure accountability and maintain consumer trust.

As inspired by the infographic produced by Barry Ritz of Nestlé Health Science titled "A Timeline of Dietary Supplement Regulation," we thought it would be fun to set it to music. Enjoy!
The National Institutes of Health (NIH) and U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) invite the public to register for the NIH-FDA Nutrition Regulatory Science which will be held December 17- 18, 2024. The goal of this joint NIH-FDA workshop is to highlight how nutrition science can generate evidence and data to inform food-related policy and regulatory decision making and to foster additional collaboration between NIH and FDA in supporting research that addresses priority nutrition research gaps.

“While GLP-1 companion products are intended to support successful weight loss with these drugs, label claims, descriptions and statements must be carefully managed," says Lauren Swann of Concept Nutrition, a food labeling consultant. "This includes messaging on all branded online products and e-commerce pages, which are extensions of labeling subject to compliance with regulations. “Communicating a food’s benefits to GLP-1 users without implying a drug claim can be a potential challenge food processors face in marketing these high protein foods, beverages and supplements,” Swann advises.

To help manufacturers, retailers, and consumers stay informed about ingredients and other substances found in products labeled as dietary supplements, we have put together this ingredient directory with links to FDA’s actions and communications. The agency’s actions and communications in this directory include FDA’s evaluation of health claims, safety communications, and compliance and enforcement actions. We encourage users of this directory to reference the linked action or communication for additional explanation about an ingredient’s use in dietary supplements. We will update the directory periodically to reflect new developments. As a reminder, FDA does not approve dietary supplements for safety and effectiveness. This directory is not intended to be a comprehensive list of all ingredients used in dietary supplements and may not include all actions the agency has taken with respect to a particular ingredient https://lnkd.in/erxi2fmc #FDA #DietarySupplement #DietarySupplements
