About us
The mission of the City of Concord is to partner with our community to deliver services, preserve, protect and enhance the quality of life and plan for the future. Concord's history dates back over 200 years. Back in the late 1700's, it seems there was a disagreement between the German and Scots-Irish settlements in the area over exactly where the County seat of the newly formed county of Cabarrus should be located. A compromise was eventually reached, and the new city was founded in 1796 on a 26 acre site. The city was named Concord, meaning "harmony," to reflect the spirit in which the issue was settled. When you look at Concord today and see the wonderful mixture of progress and heritage, the perfect blend of business, industrial, and residential life, you can see that Concord still embodies the meaning of its name - "harmony."

🦸♂️ Not all heroes wear capes, some of them keep our water clean by inspecting #ConcordNC’s backflow prevention devices to make sure dirty contaminated water isn’t flowing into our clean water lines. Josh, #TeamConcord’s System Protection Supervisor, is responsible for inspecting all the commercial and residential backflow prevention devices throughout the City. We kicked off our first Concord 101 class last night! The class began with a meet and greet with the Mayor and Members of Council, followed by a presentation sharing #ConcordNC’s rich history, and Explore Cabarrus shared the exciting entertainment opportunities throughout #CabCo and the ways tourism supports our growing economy. More than 60 residents came to learn more about our community and will spend the next 13 weeks diving deeper into our services and what makes us one of the very best places to call “home.” 💕
