Congratulations, Andre! Thank you for your leadership and all you do!
A big thank you to Focus: HOPE and their Director of Early Learning and Youth Development, my good brother, W. R. Hayes , for the recent honor and award. It was truly a memorable moment at the annual Fatherhood Conference where I had the privilege to emcee and was scheduled moderate a panel of dynamic community leaders. During the event, we were inspired by powerful messages from Dr. Sabrina Jackson and Jacob Brown 🔥 . As we geared up for the panel discussion, Hayes surprised us all with honors for our dedication to serving the community, including myself. His commitment to fostering growth in others is truly commendable. Together Jordan Ervin, M.Ed , Keith Hollowell II, and Hayes, we embarked on this journey over 20 years ago, and our passion for community service remains unwavering. #thedrawingboard #thejourneymatters #inspire #motivate #transform #feedyourfaith #starveyourdoubts #livewhatyoubelieve

The Affordable Connectivity Program will officially end on June 1, the White House announced Friday, leaving nearly a million people in Michigan without access to affordable internet. “We were very proud with Connect 313 and all of our partners to have been able to support over 150,000 Detroit families to connect to the Affordable Connectivity Program,” Laura Grannemann, Connect 313 board president told Crain’s. “Obviously, there is going to be a transition to support those families in making sure that they can continue to get affordable connectivity going forward. We always knew that this was going to be a temporary program, but now there’s the hard work of staying connected to those 150,000 families and making sure that we get them to a good next option.” Click below for the full story from Crain's. Detroit is back! Our motto: Speramus Meliora and Resurget Cineribus: "We hope for better things" and "It will rise from the ashes." Building it back better requires energy, resilience, stamina, perserverence. It also means everyone is included in the mix, not just a few. Come to Detroit to Newlab or Michigan Central Innovation Campus, and you can see it. Bill Ford's vision was not simply to create another HQ for Ford Motor Company, but rather to reclaim our title, the one his great grandfather scored for Detroit as the Global Center of Mobility. That's a tall order. But it's happening, and you know why? Because we've seen it, we've done it before and we know what it looks like. We saw it at the turn of the last century when our immigrant grandparents came here to pursue their own American Dream. Mobility wasn't just about automobiles, it was about upward mobility, providing for family, creating community. We also see it's different this time. Black and brown people are a foundational force in our community, and they need to be center stage. We can't claim success if they are not an integral part. They are tech entrepreneurs and builders of things, like we've always been builders. To be a part of this resurgence, they need capital, they need to be at the table. Their ideas, talent, passion and purpose need to be woven into the fabric of Detroit's collective success. I'm grateful to have joined forces with so many. Our 2024 DisruptED Vision is NEXT LEVEL. We have made a pact to champion their stories, to get DisruptED with them. Thanks to my partners, we will chronicle the energy, the optimism, the stories of their success. We are all in together, or we are not successful. Full stop. Their energy is exhuberant, contagious, compelling and inspiring. It's such a gift being a part of something bigger than any one of us. A Big Shoutout to the Forces of Good making this happen. Johnnie Turnage and Alexa Turnage at Black Tech Saturdays.
