Today the region came together at The Catholic University of America to explore collaborative ways to improve public safety. The event relaunched the Potomac Conference framework as a partnership between the Greater Washington Board of Trade, Greater Washington Partnership, Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments, and Consortium of Universities of the Washington Metropolitan Area as an ongoing tool for addressing the biggest challenges and opportunities in our region. I am deeply grateful to President Peter Kilpatrick for hosting and serving on an amazing panel with DC Metropolitan Police Department Chief Pamela Smith, Destination DC President Elliott Ferguson, and Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA) Chief of Police Mike Anzallo, to my wonderful partners Jack McDougle, Kathy Etemad Hollinger, and Clark Mercer; to AT&T for your sponsorship and Washington Business Journal for media partnership; and to the teams at all three organizations that came together to make this happen!!

It was a fantastic ceremony and celebration for Catholic University's Solar Array, which is being built on the university's west campus. The university hopes this solar energy project, which it created in partnership with Standard Solar, will serve as a model for sustainable living in Washington, D.C. The solar panels reach collectively 19 football fields long and will bring power to not only the school but the community it serves. 60 MILLION meals. That's how many the Capital Area Food Bank will provide this year. Radha Muthiah and her incredible team have a visionary goal to put themselves out of business by lifting those they serve. I was so grateful to join their annual event this evening and for our ongoing Consortium of Universities of the Washington Metropolitan Area partnership with them to address student hunger. Because we can all do more, and because this is what hope and faith look like in action.
