Catching up on content! I was thrilled to attend the Consumer Brands Association CPG Summit earlier this month with industry leaders talking about the trends shaping the CPG industry. PwC was honored to be the executive sponsor of such an incredible event. We had 36 hours full of opportunities for more than 150 CPG CEOs and industry executives in Colorado Springs to engage, converse and learn. A few key highlights: -Barbra Bukovac, Paul Blase, Samrat Sharma, Carla DeSantis and Ben Zelinsky hosted a session and panel on "Reinvent & Grow: Embrace the Challenge and Prepare for Radical Transformation". Attendees were instantly engaged in thinking differently about growth, what is possible, how our organizations will generate revenue in the future, the capabilities needed to succeed, and the need for speed to market! - The CPG industry has an incredible impact — employing 10% of the country and contributing 10% of GDP. The CPG industry’s brands sustain and enrich our lives! - Mike Ross presented to the group about the deal market, including the importance of reshaping your portfolio and being "deal ready"! - Alison Furman and Mike Ross facilitated a deals discussion with two amazing CEOs on lessons learned and the importance of culture and preparedness. Thank you to Stacy Papadopoulos, Genna Gent, Rhonda Bentz Bozzella, and Mario Grande for your collaboration and partnership to make this event such a success. Industry Impact. Last week I traveled with our leaders of Growth and Operations to Colorado for the Consumer Brands Association #CPGSummit and Board meeting. It was a three days of fellowship and learning on topics like the economy, geopolitical trends, AI, the American consumer and, most importantly, where Consumer Packaged Goods companies can join together to be part of the solution to the many challenges ahead. The learning (even if the outlook for the short term politically is frightening) was top notch and I returned home with many ideas to share with our TEAm here at Milo's Tea Company, Inc. Today, I want to share some incredible facts about our industry with you: 📦 CPG is 10.5% of the total US employment - this means 1 in 10 jobs in America are in the CPG industry. That's 22.3M American jobs (or 3x the population of New York City). 🥣 We are the largest manufacturing employer in America - these are good jobs, with great benefits all of which contribute in some way to the many loved household brands that power the American consumers' every day. 🥫 We contribute $2.5 Trillion to the GDP - that's 10% of the national GDP! ☕ We contribute $1.5 Trillion Dollars in total salaries, wages and benefits which is a 30% increase in wages over the last 5 years. And, for every CPG job, there are an additional 7.3 jobs created in the economy.
