We’re excited to be on the ground with Pairwise as we kick off our joint work to accelerate the benefits of gene editing not only to farmers, but ultimately to those who rely on the availability of sustainably grown and affordable food – and that’s all of us.
As we kick off our new partnership with Corteva Agriscience, we were thrilled to host Chuck Magro, Sam Eathington, Reza Rasoulpour, Wendy Pline Srnic, and Robert Lockhart this week for tours of our R&D center and meetings with our scientific and business leaders. By accelerating innovation through our leading gene editing platform and important collaborations like this partnership with Corteva, we’re excited to tackle some of the biggest challenges in global agriculture together – faster and with bigger reach – to deliver benefits to consumers, farmers, and the environment. Did you know pearl millet is a protein-rich grain grown in sub-Saharan Africa and Asia? However, it rapidly becomes rancid following harvest and milling. To help solve this challenge, we are collaborating to develop a gene-edited variety of pearl millet that will have a significantly longer shelf life. This #WorldFoodDay, we're spotlighting the work we've done in partnership with Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and the International Maize and Wheat Improvement Center (CIMMYT)to increase grain production and help smallholder farmers to feed the world. Women form the backbone of India’s agricultural sector, contributing significantly at every level. Studies show that when women have equal access to resources, farm yields can increase by up to 30%, significantly enhancing productivity and food security. However, they frequently encounter obstacles in accessing resources and training, and often lack influence in decision-making. This International Day of #RuralWomen, we want to highlight an initiative launched by our team in India, 2MillionWomen. This program aims to support 2 million women across India’s agricultural value chain by 2030. Learn more: https://bit.ly/4h4ykFY

A large part of India's agricultural success stems from the incredible women who sow seeds of resilience and growth. We are championing these change-makers through our #2MillionWomen initiative, designed to support Indian women across the agricultural value chain. We aim to equip them with the tools, training, and resources to excel, whether they’re working as farmers, researchers, or agricultural entrepreneurs. This is one story; we aim to support 2 million more by 2030. https://lnkd.in/gqYzurxY #SheThrives #FoodSecurity #SustainableAgriculture
