Mission Statement: To provide superior health care for and improve the health of our communities through a commitment to our core values of excellence, integrity, and compassion. Founded in 1888, the not-for-profit Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital has been serving the community for more than 125 years. Cottage Health, formed in 1996 as the not-for-profit parent organization of Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital and its affiliated Cottage Children’s Medical Center, Cottage Rehabilitation Hospital, Goleta Valley Cottage Hospital, and Santa Ynez Valley Cottage Hospital, is guided by a volunteer board of directors from the greater Santa Barbara community and provides the residents of the Central and South Coast with exemplary health care, continuous improvements in medical practice, and a commitment to our communities.     After 10 weeks of healthcare exploration through a combination of multi-disciplinary activities and individual projects, we are excited the celebrate these incredible 17 interns who chose to spend their summer with Cottage Health. This annual program is available to high school graduates, current college students, and recent college graduates. Planning is already underway for Summer 2025.     Rich Nagler has been elected President for the Santa Ynez Valley Cottage Hospital Foundation Board of Directors, and Charles Chester rejoins the Board, serving previously from 2004-2012.     Nagler is a retired healthcare executive and committed to improving access to quality medical care for all. In 2024, he and his wife Janice established the Nagler Family Scholarship Fund through the SYVCH Foundation’s scholarship program to advance the future healthcare workforce in the community.    Charles is a retired stockbroker who has served the SYVCH Foundation Board in many roles and capacities, including as President, Vice President and Finance and Investment Committee Chair. He and his wife Diane support many local nonprofits. Welcome Rich and Chester!

    Cottage Health is pleased to announce the opening of a new location for its Cottage Heart & Vascular Center, designed to bring together several of its specialized cardiac practices in one convenient location. Located right next to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital at 221 W. Pueblo St. in Santa Barbara, the new building houses a range of services, including cardiology, cardiovascular diagnostics, cardiothoracic surgery and women’s heart care. The centralized location fosters seamless communication and coordination between the various specialties.
