Mission Statement: To provide superior health care for and improve the health of our communities through a commitment to our core values of excellence, integrity, and compassion. Founded in 1888, the not-for-profit Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital has been serving the community for more than 125 years. Cottage Health, formed in 1996 as the not-for-profit parent organization of Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital and its affiliated Cottage Children’s Medical Center, Cottage Rehabilitation Hospital, Goleta Valley Cottage Hospital, and Santa Ynez Valley Cottage Hospital, is guided by a volunteer board of directors from the greater Santa Barbara community and provides the residents of the Central and South Coast with exemplary health care, continuous improvements in medical practice, and a commitment to our communities.     Cottage Health is pleased to announce the opening of a new location for its Cottage Heart & Vascular Center, designed to bring together several of its specialized cardiac practices in one convenient location. Located right next to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital at 221 W. Pueblo St. in Santa Barbara, the new building houses a range of services, including cardiology, cardiovascular diagnostics, cardiothoracic surgery and women’s heart care. The centralized location fosters seamless communication and coordination between the various specialties.     Join us for a Primary Grand Rounds on HIV Management for Primary Care Providers, designed to provide a practical approach to human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) care and equip attendees with essential knowledge and skills to effectively manage patients diagnosed with HIV. Topics include diagnostic tests and result interpretation, how to discuss results sensitively and compassionately with patients, and steps to improve linkage to care and timely initiation of antiretroviral therapy.     The structural heart team at Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital (SBCH) now offers the TriClip™ transcatheter edge-to-edge repair (TEER) system, a minimally invasive therapy for treating patients with a leaky heart valve, known as tricuspid regurgitation or “TR.” SBCH is the first hospital on the Central Coast to provide this innovative therapy. Previously, patients with TR had to consider invasive open-heart surgery. This new option offers a less invasive alternative, representing a significant advancement in cardiac care.     After serving 37 years at Cottage Health, the last 24 years as its President and CEO, Ron Werft has announced his plans to retire in 2025, saying: “The opportunity to lead Cottage Health has been and continues to be a joy, privilege, and honor. Cottage is an extraordinary organization, and every day I see why – it’s an incredible team of employees, physicians, executives, board members, donors and volunteers who are always working to make Cottage even better.”  Cottage Health will begin a national search for Mr. Werft’s successor, to continue his strong stewardship of the community’s independent, not-for-profit healthcare system with a commitment to quality, patient-centered care and improving health throughout the region.
