Cast silicone (PDMS) is an easy and cost-effective way to create very small feature sizes down to the single micron range. It is a suitable method for prototyping and low to medium scale manufacturing. We were inspired to show case this manufacturing method by creating a flow cell with embedded micro-wells. This flow cell is a combination of all our manufacturing expertise here at CPS Fluidics. The first layer is a drilled borosilicate glass with excellent chemical and optical properties. The second layer is a 100um silicone sheet made in-house that is cut to form the flow chamber. The third layer is a cast silicone with a 100um and 50um micro-well array. The whole stack is permanently bonded together without any adhesives for a watertight product. Do you need any products made from cast silicone (PDMS)? CPS Fluidics has been experiencing tremendous growth in both our manufacturing volume and new product introductions. That is why we are happy to announce the newest addition to our engineering team: Dean Martel Dean has been hired to fill the role of Project Engineer, where he will be an integral part in keeping internal and external projects on track. His degree in biomedical engineering gives him a deep knowledge of the applications our consumable products are used in. In addition, he has years of experience working as a manufacturing engineer producing microfluidic instruments. Welcome to the team Dean!
