I recently attended Credo AI Responsible AI Leadership Summit 2024, and the discussions were both timely and invaluable as I continue to dive deep into AI governance. For those that could not attend, here is the 20 second version: My Biggest Takeaway: Trust and centering humans is the foundation of responsible AI. It's not just about compliance; responsible AI is a driver of business success. Ethical AI practices fuel innovation, enhance customer loyalty, and enable sustainable growth. We also explored how board oversight is critical as companies adopt generative AI. Boards and executive leadership must collaborate on governance strategies that prioritize risk management and accountability while driving innovation. As we navigate the rapidly evolving AI landscape, global standards were discussed as essential to fostering responsible AI adoption. Additionally, U.S. state-level policies are already paving the way for broader discussions on AI governance. The event reinforced that responsible AI is not a destination, but a continuous journey and one that we must be flexible enough to continually iterate on. I'm excited to apply these insights as I look to shape Chime’s AI governance strategy. Huge thank you to Credo AI, Dennis Yang, and Navrina Singh for leading the way! And to the speakers... you all were absolutely incredible, thank you Scott Frederick, Nicole Wong, Michelle Lee, Scott Wiener, Christina Montgomery, Greg Ulrich, Daniel Kluttz, and the INFAMOUS Fei-Fei Li! #ResponsibleAI #AIGovernance #EthicalAI #AI

AI Expert @ United Nations | Former Head of Data and AI Ecosystems at WEF | ex-Google AI | Champion of Responsible AI and Innovation

Thrilled to have participated in Credo AI's Responsible AI Leadership Summit 2024 at the Golden Gate Club last week! It was an enriching experience to reconnect with friends and learn from the foremost thinkers in responsible AI governance, including policymakers, researchers, ethicists, and industry leaders. Key Takeaways from the Summit: ✅ Governance Enables Trust: With emerging AI regulations and increasing consumer demand for trustworthy AI, governance is pivotal in fostering innovation while building trust. ✅ Standardization is Essential: A recurring theme was the critical role of standardization in responsible AI—from methodologies to benchmarking. To transition Responsible AI from an art to a science and ensure its safety and trustworthiness, harmonized AI standards that are operationally relevant, interoperable, and adaptable across countries and regions are urgently needed. ✅ Transparency and Collaboration: Debates around open-source versus closed-source models, the necessity for transparency throughout the AI supply chain, and the importance of public-private cooperation were prominent. Collaboration across sectors has never been more crucial. ✅ Realistic AI Expectations: There's a tendency to overestimate short-term impacts and underestimate long-term effects. Maintaining realistic expectations about AI's evolution is essential for developing sustainable governance frameworks. ✅ Agility in Governance: Governance is a continuous journey. As technology evolves and regulatory landscapes solidify, organizations must remain agile and adaptable. Practical Steps for Implementing Responsible AI: 1/ Inventory AI Usage: Catalog all AI components and applications within your organization, including those used by third parties and vendors. 2/ Assess Risk Levels: Evaluate the risk associated with each AI component and application. 3/ Establish Appropriate Governance: Develop governance structures proportionate to the identified risks, including necessary processes, procedures, tools, and teams to operationalize responsible AI initiatives. 4/ Continuous Monitoring: Regularly monitor the performance and impact of AI systems, ensuring fairness, transparency, explainability, and accountability at every development stage. 5/ Educate Your Organization: Provide education on AI fundamentals, limitations, and areas requiring caution to all members. This promotes the identification of impactful AI applications while mitigating risks. A heartfelt thank you to Navrina Singh and the entire Credo AI team for uniting us and propelling this critical conversation forward! #responsibleai

It was a pleasure to join Elham Tabassi, Evi Fuelle, and Wael William Diab for a vibrant conversation on global AI standards and commitments at Credo AI's Responsible AI Leadership Summit. As AI technologies rapidly evolve, the necessity for standardized, operationally relevant methods to evaluate their performance and safety becomes increasingly urgent. Today's conversation underscored the critical need for harmonized AI standards that recognize and adapt to the diverse requirements of different countries and regions. At MLCommons, we’re not starting from scratch. We’re drawing upon the collective expertise of our consortium – which spans engineers, scientists, and academics – to forge tools that uphold the rigor of scientific validation and are also practical for widespread enterprise application. Thank you to my fellow panelists for a thought-provoking discussion and to Navrina Singh and Credo for your engagement and commitment to advancing responsible AI practices globally. #aigovernance #responsibleai #aisafety

    VP, Head of Media Strategy

Feeling so inspired after the Credo AI Responsible AI Leadership Summit yesterday at the iconic Golden Gate Club. Hearing the best and brightest minds in responsible AI governance... from execs at Microsoft, Cisco, Meta, Cohere, IBM, Mastercard, Northrup Grumman Advanced Systems, PepsiCo, McKinsey & Company, Booz Allen Hamilton to leaders in AI policy and regulation from Future of Privacy Forum, Special Competitive Studies Project - SCSP, and state senators Maroney (CT), Rodriguez (CO), and Weiner (CA), Credo AI Founder/CEO Navrina Singh and many more. Of course, a conversation among business and policy leaders needs the keen, objective POV of the media -- while AI governance might not be the sexiest topic out there, it's so encouraging to see those responsible for explaining these evolving issues to the public get involved. HUGE thanks to Kate Rooney, Shirin Ghaffary, Edward Ludlow, Kartikay M., Rachael Myrow, Mark Sullivan, George Hammond, and Maxwell Zeff for moderating the discussions and attending the Summit to give credence to this important, complicated, rapidly evolving space!

The session that just 👏 kept 👏 giving The inimitable godmother of AI, Dr. Fei-Fei Li, sat down with our CEO Navrina Singh to discuss everything from the early days of ImageNet to a ten-year hope of accelerated AI drug discovery. Many of us at this year’s Responsible AI Leadership Summit were inspired to care about human-centered AI, or AI at all, because of Fei-Fei’s pioneering contributions to this technology that is transforming our society. We thank her so much for joining us—and I leave you with just a few of her best quotes from today: “The beauty of physics is the audacity to ask fundamental questions.” “In order to ensure AI is infused with human-centered values, we first need to want it.” “There is nothing artificial about AI. It is made by people, used by people, and it must be governed by people.” “It is important we steer away from science fiction hyperbole, and look at how AI is impacting real people.” cc Russell Wald
