About us

What Makes Us Different: The Cristo Rey Work Study Program: Every Cristo Rey student works one day each week in professional, administrative roles at partner organizations. In turn, the revenue they generate funds up to 50% of their tuition! Students receive professional training at school and are prepared to contribute at their workplace on day one. Current partners include Cisco, CBRE, Kaiser Permanente, NVIDIA, Bristol Myers Squibb, Morrison Foerster, and 90+ more. Cutting Edge Learning: Cristo Rey San Jose's academic model uses cutting-edge technology to adapt to individual student needs. Each student is given a Chromebook computer to aid instruction and use online portals for their classes. • At the recent annual Builders BBQ, Cristo Rey San José received a generous grant of $20,845 towards annual scholarships. The Builders BBQ is a joint effort with the members of the Construction Employers’ Association and the affiliates of the Building Trades Council (BTC) of Santa Clara and San Benito Counties. 100% of the proceeds of the event go to deserving local non-profits thanks to the generosity of many host sponsors. In addition, the BTC has 24 affiliated unions and almost all of them have donated to this year’s BBQ. Cristo Rey SJ was honored to be selected as one of the recipients this year. Our deep thanks to all involved with this event for believing in the Cristo Rey mission of educating our #FirstGen students from underserved communities to reach their fullest potential for college and career! #TheSchoolthatWorks Rudolph and Sletten Joseph J. • 🎉 Cristo Rey San José Jesuit High School (CRSJ) has earned Platinum recognition on the 2024 AP School Honor Roll and received the prestigious AP Access Award! 🏆 The AP School Honor Roll recognizes schools for expanding access to AP courses and supporting students on the path to college success. Only 6% of schools earn this award. 🤩 CRSJ met Platinum criteria by enabling 80% of the Class of 2025 to take at least one AP course, with 50% earning college credit, and 15% completing 5+ AP courses throughout high school! We also received the AP Access Award for ensuring our AP program supports equitable opportunities for low-income and underrepresented students. • 🔬STEM Career Pathways in Action at Cristo Rey San José! 🚀 We had an exciting morning with a special guest speaker who’s both a Ninja Warrior and a scientist! Our students were thrilled to watch Jay Flores present his “It’s Not Magic, It’s Science!” STEM Lab, sponsored by our amazing supporters HITEC. The hands-on experiments, from baking soda and vinegar reactions to testing the density of bowling balls, brought science to life in a fun and engaging way. Each student even took home their own science kit, ensuring the learning continues beyond the classroom. Thank you to The HITEC Foundation and Kelley Francis for making this happen! At Cristo Rey SJ, we know the importance of STEM education in shaping the future of our young professionals. Our Young Professional Institute (YPI) provides students with training that will open doors to STEM and other career pathways, while they wait for their own job placements. We're still seeking job placements for our talented YPI students, and this is where you come in! If you’re passionate about STEM education or want to support the next wave of young professionals, consider providing or funding a job placement. By doing so, you’ll be making a direct impact on students who are eager to gain hands-on experience in STEM fields. Interested in learning more? Contact us today to find out how you can support Cristo Rey SJ’s Corporate Work Study Program and help our students achieve their dreams! https://lnkd.in/gnGVVZPW #STEMEducation #WorkStudy #YoungProfessionals #FutureLeaders #CristoReySJ #NinjaWarriorScience #ScienceInAction #DiversityInSTEM

  • We are excited to share this game-changing news from SCU for our students, families and broader CRSJ community. According to President Silvia Scandar Mahan: “As a fellow Jesuit institution, SCU has been a top choice for many graduates of Cristo Rey San José. Their decision to remove financial barriers to a transformational Jesuit education opens the door for so many motivated students, and will have a significant impact on families and communities right here in Silicon Valley.”  Our College Counseling team is working hard with our seniors to take advantage of this opportunity that makes a Santa Clara education possible for Cristo Rey SJ Lions. Thank you Santa Clara University! Go Broncos! #JesuitEducated #TheSchoolThatWorks

    President at Santa Clara University

Earlier this year Santa Clara University announced our Impact 2030 Strategic Plan (https://go.scu.edu/3TFmZSQ). A major component of this plan is to make our excellent Jesuit education available for all talented students. Today, I am thrilled to announce significant steps towards this goal. Beginning in the 2025-2026 school year, Santa Clara University will meet the full demonstrated financial need of admitted first-year students who qualify for California State Grants, and those who are graduates of the national Cristo Rey Network of high schools. We are proud to support these talented middle- and low-income students as they embark – and continue – on their four-year academic careers. • Fifty years ago, a young man left Phoenix to answer the call to join the Jesuits. We celebrate that day, as our entire school community honors Fr. Peter Pabst, S.J., Chancellor and Founder of Cristo Rey San José Jesuit High School (CRSJ), and we express our heartfelt gratitude for all he has done for so many. After joining the Society of Jesus in 1974, Peter's grace-filled journey took him through many Jesuit works and apostolates including Bellarmine College Preparatory, Santa Clara University, back to his alma mater Brophy College Preparatory, while earning multiple degrees from Gonzaga University, Jesuit School of Theology, and Santa Clara University. Congratulations on 50 years as a Jesuit, Fr. Pabst! https://bit.ly/4dexNxT #JesuitEducated #AMDG

  • 🐾🚐 It seems like our Cristo Rey San Jose Jesuit HS vans are the place to be! Our incredible driver Ina recently heard some unexpected meowing coming from one of our transport vans. After a bit of investigation, the source of the sound was found nestled in the spare tire—a little kitten! 🐱 Ina and the team jumped into action, carefully lowering the tire and safely rescuing the kitten. The story has a happy ending, as a fellow driver Jack took the kitten home, though we may know another loving home on standby. 🏡 While our vans typically transport our young professionals to their valuable Corporate Work Study placements, it looks like even kittens are excited about the journey! 🚐✨ A big shout-out to our dedicated transportation team, who not only get our students to work safely and on time but also go the extra mile (literally!) in unexpected situations like this one. Without them, our Corporate Work Study Program wouldn’t be the success it is, providing students with real-world experience at our trusted corporate partners. It’s not just our students who appreciate the ride—this kitten sure did too! 🐾💼 #CorporateWorkStudy #Teamwork #CommunitySupport #TransportationHeroes #NoKittenLeftBehind

  • Celebrating Our Cristo Rey SJ Young Professionals at Sacred Heart Community Service! 🌟 We’re thrilled to spotlight the incredible work our Cristo Rey San Jose Jesuit High School young professionals are doing at one of our valued non-profit partners, Sacred Heart Community Service. These dedicated individuals are making a meaningful impact on the community: 🌳 Max helped bring Sacred Heart’s vision to life by creating a beautiful community tree. Adorned with leaves made by community members, the tree symbolizes the collective hopes and challenges we strive to grow from, becoming strong trunks that support and uplift one another. 🎨 Vanessa collaborated with the EJN team to organize a creative painting session, offering a much-needed way to decompress after a busy week. This initiative is part of transforming a room into a wellness space, ensuring that both staff and community members have a place to recharge. 🚗 Donovan and Dominik assisted their coordinator, Jacqueline, by delivering car seats to families in need, helping ensure the safety and well-being of children in the community. Thanks to Veronica Amador, Mike Vega, Maria Gallardo, and Myisha Taylor. These stories exemplify the power of collaboration between nonprofits and young professionals in creating real, lasting impact.
