Powerful read! Yes! more imagination and creativity in creating something new! "Dreaming encourages us to step out of our comfort zones. Imagine a workplace where creativity and playfulness are not just suggested but are essential elements that drive us beyond our comfort zones. It can be powerful for adults to unleash boundless imaginations, drawing inspiration from children's curiosity and flexibility. Children effortlessly embrace a level of creativity that is fearless and innovative, using the resources available to create new worlds...Our creative side has the power to produce innovative solutions and foster collaborative breakthroughs that support racial equality. By blending imagination and play in our professional environment, we infuse a vibrant energy that dismantles familiar barriers. In an inclusive and playful atmosphere, revolutionary ideas flourish, nurturing a workplace that is open to endless possibilities." Let's get rid of the same playbooks that will produce the same inequities. A new reality with work is possible. Thank you for this Jordan Sanders

Check out the first blog in our Freedom Architects Series, The Role of Radical Imagination in the Fight for Racial Justice. Written by our Engagements Manager Jordan Sanders she explores how embracing a new form of imagination helped reshape her views on racial equity work. "Radical imagination encourages us to dream beyond the inequitable structures we experience today and asks us to envision a new way of being, a world we have not seen yet. We cannot fight for a more equitable future if we cannot imagine it, and we cannot fight for something we are not deeply connected to."

We're excited to announce our 2024-26 Strategy! At NewSchools, we’re leading with optimism. Although tomorrow's challenges are uncertain, one thing is clear: a better future begins in our classrooms. Over the next three years, we'll raise $100 million to invest in three areas —  Innovative Schools, Learning Solutions, and Teaching Reimagined — and our commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion will be at the core of everything we do. Across these investment areas, we’ll support innovations that meet the needs of students with learning differences, embrace pathways to college and career success, and leverage the power of generative artificial intelligence. For a deeper understanding of our vision, explore our blog, where our CEO, Frances Messano, outlines the principles guiding our strategy. https://lnkd.in/eSX6iyAT

We are excited to announce our new series for this year: Freedom Architects Series. Freedom Architects will focus on individuals who actively design and construct frameworks, systems, and paradigms that promote freedom, justice, and liberation. In the context of leadership and organizational development, Freedom Architects represents those who are committed to designing and implementing structures, policies, and practices that empower individuals, challenge oppressive norms, and foster environments conducive to liberation and social transformation. This series emphasizes the proactive role of leaders and change agents in shaping a more just and equitable world. We are excited to engage more with you all and continue building collective movements. New posts to follow weekly!

We are watching this happen to many organizations trying to do the work in supporting a more equitable society. Now, funds are limited because the status quo wants to remain in power. These programs work and this work is necessary. This is not new, society works in patterns and now our work becomes even more important. Ultimately, grantmakers and funders, we see what society you want to really maintain. "Leaders of the racial justice movement know that the nation faces a formidable array of threats from a right-wing backlash that relies on censorship and authoritarianism. Instead of spending their energy, money, and time on unneccesary compliance, foundations can support the many campaigns, strategy sessions, research projects, and other work that will lead to true justice and eliminate the racist and exclusionary narratives that threaten democracy. At this pivotal moment in history, conceding is not an option." https://lnkd.in/g9e2qAY8

My Dissertation is officially published! The title is "A Real Man . . .”: Deconstructing Machismo Heteronormative Standards with K–12 Latino Male Educators through Dialogic Spaces. Huge shout out to Dr. Sarina Chugani Molina, Dr. Pedro Nava, and Dr. Veronica Garza for your endless support throughout this journey. I appreciate you all. A huge thank you and gratitude to Dr. Michael V. Singh from University of California, Davis, who's writing on how to support men of color to work with boys of color, enhanced my vision of my study on deconstructing machismo. Appreciate you taking a call with an early scholar and your humility in that conversation. Here is my dissertation if you would like to read it. It is still surreal. https://lnkd.in/gfWvGkzZ
