The most dangerous conversation about race is the one we don’t have.
About us
The Equity Lab seeks to disrupt racial and ethnic inequity by engaging organizations in issues of race, equity, diversity, and inclusion (REDI). We help individuals to develop a deep understanding of their own identity and the historical and cultural contexts in which we all operate, and we empower them to become agents of progress in their personal and professional spheres. We serve as an objective third party to our clients, providing honest guidance, ongoing partnership, and a safe, compassionate space to do what we know is serious, difficult, and deeply necessary work.

Our friends at Beloved Community have a new report out to help keep equity at the forefront this school year.
Millions of American kids are back to school this week. Students will hear a lot about classroom expectations, like completing homework on time. But it’s also incredibly important to have conversations about *equity* in schools. Beloved Community’s new report, "The Power to Make Change," contains research-backed guidance to help educators AND parents advocate for their kids and their communities. Key Findings include: how school leaders’ willingness to lead on equity measures translates to positive systemic change, why we must provide BIPOC youth with the tools and opportunities to make a difference in their school communities, and how the benefits of a “network effect” allow Black and Latine women in education to feel empowered. Read the Report: https://loom.ly/qSo6V68 We hope that you will find it useful and empowering as your family goes through the school year!

📢🎉 As we celebrate Juneteenth today, we honor the strength, culture, and history of Black communities across America. Juneteenth marks the liberation of the last enslaved African Americans in Texas, two years after the Emancipation Proclamation. This day is a powerful reminder of the importance of understanding our past to build a more equitable future. At The Equity Lab, we recognize that understanding context and local history is crucial in our fight for justice. Our Nexus and Seeding Disruption Fellowship experiences deeply embed this principle, encouraging fellows to explore and reflect on the historical and social contexts of their communities. By acknowledging and learning from the past, we equip our leaders to create impactful change. Join us in celebrating Juneteenth and recommitting to the work of equity and justice. Together, we can disrupt inequities and pave the way for a brighter, more inclusive future. ✊🏽🖤 #Juneteenth #TheEquityLab #NexusFellowship #SeedingDisruption #EquityAndJustice #UnderstandHistory #BuildTheFuture #BlackLiberation #CommunityEmpowerment
