Which Connecticut State Park holds a special place in your heart? Tell us about your favorite Connecticut State Park or Forest and what makes it special to you! Share your stories, pics, and memories using #MyPassportTo and tag Connecticut Forest & Park Association and Connecticut State Parks. For CFPA Office Manager Teralyn, Bigelow Hollow State Park is her passport to memories: "During the pandemic, it became my sanctuary where I could decompress and find peace. The water, trails, and abundant wildlife felt like a natural retreat. And it's here that my dog, Bo, discovered his love for swimming. Bigelow Hollow holds a special place in my heart as the spot where many precious memories took place and where I began writing poetry, finding comfort and inspiration in nature." #PassportToTheParks #CTStateParks #CTParks #LoveYourParks #GetOutside

🌧 This weekend, during the severe flooding that hit Western Connecticut, a remarkable rescue operation took place at Kettletown State Park. A washed-out bridge stranded 43 campers and 3 staff members. Thanks to the swift and coordinated efforts of DEEP EnCon Police, fire departments from Kent, Sherman, Southbury, and Gaylordsville, as well as county coordinators from Middlesex and Litchfield Counties, all 46 individuals were safely evacuated by boat. We also thank the Connecticut State Police and the American Red Cross teams for their critical support and the CT National Guard for working with us on the recovery of property from that site. 💚We extend our deepest gratitude to everyone involved in this life-saving operation. Your dedication and bravery truly make a difference. #CTStrong #ExtremeWeather #PublicSafety #FirstResponders

It's #WorldMosquitoDay! (boo) Over the years, increased precipitation in Connecticut has led to more standing water, providing the perfect breeding ground for mosquitoes to lay their eggs. To combat this surge, here are a few tips for avoiding mosquitoes and their bothersome bites. ✅ 🦟Avoid outdoor activities during dawn and dusk, mosquito presence peaks during these times. 🦟Wear light-colored clothing when outdoors, it makes it much easier to spot them! 🦟If you own a car, keep repellent stored inside for easy access without the need to remember to bring it with you. 🦟If manageable, opt for long-sleeve clothing when staying active outdoors. 🦟Be mindful of outdoor activities right after the rain, mosquitoes love humid conditions. 🦟While the population of mosquitoes may have surged, you have the power to outsmart those little pests and continue enjoying the beautiful outdoors.
