About us

The Center for Telehealth and e-Health Law (CTeL) has established itself as the “go-to” legal and regulatory telehealth organization – providing vital support to the community on topics such as: Medicare and Medicaid, private insurance payment policies, physician licensure and nurse licensure, and credentialing and privileging. CTeL enjoys a national reputation as one of the preeminent organizations in the field of telehealth and e-health related issues. In 1995, CTeL was created in response to a need for a legal and regulatory organization that focuses on issues impacting the advancement of telehealth. Today, CTeL supports health care providers, law firms, associations, universities, insurance companies and venture capital firms who work to overcome legal and regulatory issues related to telehealth. CTeL also offers its members access to legal research and consulting through our membership benefit packages.

"Improvements in communication technology throughout the decades (e.g., internet, mobile devices, and video conferencing) helped telehealth grow in scope and feasibility." Let's not roll backward what we have spent decades growing. https://lnkd.in/e4_c_eYp #telehealthawarenessweek #accesstocare #healthpolicy #telehealth

“Progress is the activity of today and the assurance of tomorrow.” — Ralph Waldo Emerson Today, millions of Americans depend on telehealth for accessible healthcare. However, without legislative action to secure these flexibilities for the future, millions risk losing continuous care or access to services that are hard to reach. #telehealth #accesstocare #healthpolicy https://lnkd.in/eSeRmPtA

Iris Telehealth has launched two new technology-driven solutions aimed at enhancing behavioral healthcare: a Virtual Clinic and an AI assistant called IrisInsights. The company has been working with various healthcare providers since 2013 to bring consistency and efficiency to behavioral health departments across different settings, from entire health systems to community clinics. The Virtual Clinic, integrated with Iris Insights, acts as a command center for managing behavioral health services. It offers real-time financial insights, improves scheduling efficiency, and provides risk assessments for patient care. With 430 mental healthcare providers, Iris Telehealth aims to set a national standard for behavioral health practices, addressing the industry's lack of standardization and data points. Iris Insights has already been deployed over the past year with 17 partners, covering over 200 facilities. The company plans to release monthly updates, including new APIs, to further enhance the solution. #BehavioralHealth #Telehealth #AI #HealthcareInnovation #IrisTelehealth

Today marks the start of an important week dedicated to raising awareness about the value and impact of telehealth. As we kick off #TelehealthAwarenessWeek, let's take a moment to recognize the transformative power of telehealth in providing accessible, timely, and patient-centered care. But with all the progress we've made, there’s one thing we must continue advocating for: permanency in telehealth policy. The temporary measures that expanded access during the pandemic have shown us the undeniable benefits of virtual care, from improving access in rural and underserved areas to enhancing care coordination for those with chronic conditions. These advancements can’t—and shouldn’t—be rolled back. 🏥 Permanency in telehealth means: -Sustained access for patients, no matter where they live. -Flexibility for providers to meet the needs of their patients in innovative ways. -Continuity of care that keeps patients engaged and connected to their healthcare teams. Let's use this week to remind policymakers that telehealth is not just a temporary solution—it’s the future of healthcare. 🔑 Together, we can make permanent change that benefits patients, providers, and the entire healthcare system. #Telehealth #HealthcareInnovation #VirtualCare #Telemedicine #HealthEquity #PolicyMatters

"If Congress does not pass the Telehealth Modernization Act or similar legislation before the expiration of the waivers, several challenges could arise: -Loss of Access: Without permanent changes, many patients, particularly those in urban areas or with mobility issues, could lose access to telehealth services. This would disproportionately affect vulnerable populations who have benefited from the increased flexibility during the pandemic. -Provider Limitations: Fewer healthcare professionals would be eligible to offer telehealth services, creating bottlenecks in care, particularly in fields like mental health, where demand is high. -Reimbursement Issues: Telehealth visits may not be reimbursed at the same rate as in-person visits if payment parity provisions are not enacted, discouraging providers from offering telehealth services."
