Pioneering ESG Strategies at the Asian Actuarial Conference 2024 We are proud to be a sponsor of the Asian Actuarial Conference 2024, which brought together over 1,000 actuaries and industry leaders to explore the latest trends and insights shaping the actuarial landscape across Asia. Actuaries of all levels in CTF Life across Actuarial, Capital, Product, Investment and Risk teams actively participated to learn about the industry leaders’ experience and best practices. Jim Lam, Executive Director and Chief Operating and Financial Officer of NWS Holdings Limited, took part in a pivotal panel discussion titled “Asia’s Insurers’ Triple Role in the Net Zero Transition - Resilient Investor, Risk-Taker, Responsible Company.” He discussed how conglomerates like NWS develop overarching ESG strategies, yet allowing business units to set specific targets, integrate material issues, and consider operational ESG factors and investment guidelines based on the considerations in their own sectors. Under NWS, companies like Hip Hing and CTF Life share goals such as emissions reduction and improving the well-being of their stakeholders and community but differ in strategies due to their business nature. CTF Life emphasizes responsible investments, while Hip Hing focuses on construction innovation and electrification for emissions reduction. To achieve net zero emissions by 2050, both Hip Hing and CTF Life have proposed short-term targets to SBTi, with CTF Life being the first in our sector whose key operations are in the Greater Bay Area to make this commitment. During the captivating closing ceremony, our Deputy CEO and CFO, Ellick Tsui, had the distinct honour of receiving a special souvenir, symbolizing our unwavering commitment to advancing actuarial excellence and contributing to the vibrant exchange of knowledge within the region. Our participation and sponsorship not only highlight our dedication to supporting the growth and development of the actuarial profession but also reinforce our position as a proactive leader in the industry. Together, we can create value beyond insurance by building a brighter future for the actuarial community! 林战 (Jim Lam), Ellick Tsui, Betty Lee, Stanley Ko, Danny Chow, Victor Chan, William Wong, Yat Man Hung, Kelvin Yeung, KWOK MAN KWAN, Chi Fung Kong, Daniel Cheng, Stella Lam, Mario Lai, Kelly To #CTF_Life #NWSGroup #ValueBeyondInsurance #AsianActuarialConference #ActuarialExcellence #ActuarialSocietyofHongKong #ESG

Since 2022, #NWS has partnered with Christian Action to launch the ‘Read-to-Learn Chinese for Ethnic Minority’ Program. This initiative is designed to enhance the Chinese language skills of ethnic minority students and their parents in Hong Kong, fostering social inclusion and paving the way for brighter career prospects. This year, we kicked off Phase III of the program, welcoming around 40 ethnic minority students and their family members to a series of interactive sessions, outings and training classes. In addition to Chinese language learning, we also offer workshops that support family planning, social integration, and well-being. Our volunteers also participated in various trainings and events. Apart from in-class Chinese lessons, we organized an exciting day out for participants with our volunteers, including a trip to the Madame Tussauds at the Peak and a ride on the Peak tram, fostering language exchange opportunities. Recognizing the importance of financial planning for daily needs, we were pleased to host a workshop with a representative from our wholly-owned subsidiary, CTF Life. Tiffany Ng, CFP® AEPP® QRA® Wealth Management Director at CTF Life, shared essential tips to improve financial literacy among ethnic minority women, helping them identify and address financial concerns effectively. We are committed to supporting the community with more relevant workshops in the future. #NWSGroup #NWSCharitiesFoundation #Volunteering
