Novel biobased materials to improve circularity of complex plastic multi material composites
About us
CUBIC is a research & innovation project funded by Circular Bio-based Europe Joint Undertaking (CBE – JU) under the European Union’s Framework Programme for Research and Innovation, Horizon Europe, under Grant Agreement No. 101111996. The project has a total duration of 42 months and a budget of almost 4.7 million Euros and aims to improve the sustainability and circularity of complex products made of high-tech advanced multi-material composite thermoset and thermoplastic structures, by developing novel circular biobased alternative materials. These new materials, that are 100% recyclable by design, will be manufactured as B2B intermediate semi-finished products that can be used either individually or assembled in the final end-user product. The project also aims at the easy adoption of the developed new materials by the market, enabling the decentralisation of the European manufacturing industry and boosting a twin green and digital transformation.

📢 Epoxy resins delivered to CIDETEC for the first generation of 3RCAN bio-epoxy materials 💡 SPECIFIC POLYMERS has successfully synthesized and formulated a first series of three #bisphenol-free #epoxyresins, specifically designed for the 3RCAN bio-based epoxy system (reprocessable, repairable and recyclable covalent adaptable networks) as part of the first generation of reversible materials. These formulations have been meticulously fine-tuned to meet the requirements of #towpreg process. Researches were not only dedicated to achieve the optimal viscosity but also to ensure that the curing cycle and corresponding thermomechanical performances comply with the specifications of the process and the application. Very soon, CIDETEC will test these formulations in their fiber impregnation process to validate their specifications. #composites #virtimers #reversiblematerials #sustainablechemistry
