We are all in this football season, and so is Leon! He is a Greeter with Guest Services with the Cleveland Browns. Leon wanted to start working to increase his independence and to help Annie, his mom, whom he lives with. UCP of Greater Cleveland Oakleaf Case Manager Tiffany H. and Career Coach Amy V. supported him in practicing interviewing and resume skills. They also connected Leon to his current job. "I love this job because I have the opportunity to spend time with the players and their families," said Leon. He stays in touch with his Support Administrator Borys who answers his questions and needs. Leon advocates for himself by speaking up for his wants and needs, and he goes after them. Leon encourages his friends to not be afraid and to try to stand up for themselves. He loves to spend time with family and friends at movies, concerts, and eating out. He enjoys all sports - watching the Cavaliers, Guardians, and Browns. Leon's next goal is to complete a short story about his life. #NDEAM #DisabilityEmployment #ClevelandBrowns ID: Annie and Leon smiling in Browns' gear.

October is a fantastic month because it's National Disability Employment Awareness Month! George is hard at work at Chippewa Place. He started there in 2018 and is now a Dietary Aide. He took finding a job seriously and completed Project SEARCH at Parma City School District. In this program, he learned job and development skills. With support from the UCP of Greater Cleveland Oak Leaf and Chris Coon Area Coordinator of Workforce Development, George interviewed until he found his current job. George stays connected with Loretta, his Support Administrator, and Chris for any of his questions about work and living independently. He adores working with others and doing different things on the job. "I work with a great group of people, and I love my job," said George. Outside of work, George likes to race remote-controlled cars, play guitar, and listen to Elvis Presley. His next goal is to perfect playing the guitar. #NDEAM #DisabilityEmployment Image description: George smiling while working in a black shirt and cap.
