Stephenson Construction was thrilled to attend the 2nd Annual Architects & Engineers Summit, hosted by The Office of Diversity in Business Practices of The School District of Palm Beach County (SDPBC), in celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month on September 12, 2024! The theme, “Collaborative Innovations in School Design,” set the stage for a day of inspiration and connection. We were honored to have D. Stephenson team member Jorge Perez, Design Director for The School District of Palm Beach County, share his valuable insights into schoolhouse design and career experiences, motivating the next generation of architects and engineers. Architecture students from Palm Beach State College joined our table, engaging in meaningful discussions with local high school students. They brought virtual reality goggles (VRGs), 3D-printed models, and showcased their impressive work, offering a glimpse into the exciting future of architecture education. D. Stephenson Construction congratulates Khai and Khali Gumbs on successfully completing their summer internship! This summer, we had the privilege of welcoming Khai and Khali Gumbs, twin brothers originally from the Virgin Islands, as interns at D. Stephenson Construction. Growing up with a passion for building and design, Khali and Khai have been making strides in their educational journeys and careers. Khali is currently enrolled in the School of Construction, Infrastructure, and Sustainability at Florida International University, while Khai is studying at Broward College, with aspirations to pursue Architecture and earn his Bachelor's degree from Florida Atlantic University. During their time with us, Khai and Khali gained valuable office and field experience, working alongside our Project Management team. They learned what it takes to construct at the highest level, contributing to several of our Broward Schools projects and even visiting our FIU - BBC STAR Renovation project, a state-of-the-art simulated hospital facility with level five finishes. But their impact didn’t stop there. Khai and Khali also represented D. Stephenson Construction at the FEFPA Summer 2024 Conference at the Boca Resort and the 2024 City of Miramar Job Fair, where they shined as true ambassadors of our company. Khali will continue working with D. Stephenson Construction, and we’re excited to see what they both accomplish next. These two are all-stars with winning mindsets and personalities. Exciting Update from D. Stephenson Construction! Several talented students from local Broward and Palm Beach County schools recently joined our construction team at the Canyon Branch Library. Together, they installed the final trees in the green plaza courtyard and gained firsthand knowledge of construction processes during a site tour. Set to become Palm Beach County's 2nd largest library, the Canyon Branch is a state-of-the-art facility nestled in the Canyon Town Center at Boynton Beach Boulevard and Lyons Road. This 33,000 sq ft concrete masonry and steel structure will offer traditional library services, ample print and media collections, and a variety of special features including a drive-up materials return, a Teen Room, a Collaboration Space, and a CreationStation makerspace area. We're proud to provide Construction Manager at Risk services for the Palm Beach County Library System's 18th library location, enhancing community access to educational resources and fostering a love for learning. We're thrilled to share the incredible experience we had at the Lexus Corporate Run 2024! Team D. Stephenson Construction had a blast participating alongside other South Florida companies in support of the United Way. It was an amazing opportunity to come together, exercise, walk, and run the stunning 5K route along Flagler St. in West Palm Beach, Florida. I am proud to announce that the entire DSC team finished the race in Champion Style!
