A fresh look at sustainable development 🌍 Yesterday's event gave me a lot to think about. It was great to hear from producers and professionals who really care about the environment. Their views, innovative ideas and concrete actions showed how much can be done to make a positive impact. Sustainability is more than just an aspiration; it is a shared responsibility that unites both individuals and companies. A huge thank you to DAB.UK and everyone involved in organizing this event here in Bournemouth. #Sustainability #SustainableBusiness #EnvironmentallyConscious #GreenFuture #FurnitureDesign #InteriorDesign #DabUK #BournemouthEvents #CircularEconomy

Yesterday, Sustainable Style came to Bournemouth - an inspiring afternoon of discussion and networking for professionals across the Design and Build industry. A few take-away for me from the afternoon: MATERIALS Explore alternative materials such as Hemp (flooring & insulation), Cork and re-using resources already created. I’m a huge fan of Spark & Bell’s beautiful lights - many designs from post-consumer waste. HEALTH & WELLBEING Sustainability and wellbeing are intertwined. Materials with a lower environmental impact often release less noxious chemicals and therefore contribute to better air quality in a space. There is more about this inside Chloe’s book Sustainable Interior Design. SCALE Questioning how large an additional space needs to be. 20% smaller space = 20% less embodied carbon. This was illustrated perfectly by Scott - Designer of the beautiful Bide Cabin. MAKING IT ACCESSIBLE It was reassuring to hear that there is no need for sustainable ‘perfection paralysis’, and that the solution for our industry is for many professionals to create ‘small moments of impact’ within our circle of influence in order to create real change. Thank you to my passionate and highly knowledgeable colleagues Chloe Bullock FRSA, BIID Reg ID, BA (hons) and Emer Gillespie from Interior Design Declares along with the brilliantly engaging Roddy Clarke for coming all the way to Bournemouth along with the speakers Scott Lewis from The Bide and Summer Obaid from Abstract House ® The UK’s Most Sustainable Art Gallery. Thank you DAB UK and KTM Design team for a brilliantly organised afternoon. DAB.UK KTM Design Interior Design Declares - UK #sustainableinteriors #sustainabledesign

We did it indeed! We have been working on our event Sustainable Style for the past few months and we eagerly opened the doors yesterday to over 130 industry professionals to host this amazing panel event in Bournemouth. Featuring sustainable design experts from the world of lighting, art, design and architecture. The feedback we’ve had has been overwhelming and naturally we are already working towards our next event in April. Info to follow. If you would like to attend, sponsor or even be a panelist please get in touch with myself or Katie Thomas (MA) to find out more. Memberships to our fast growing community are also available DAB.UK We look forward to welcoming you to our next event.
We did it! Over the past few months, I’ve been working on Sustainable Style—a panel discussion event featuring sustainable design experts and a room full of designers, architects, and suppliers from across the design and build industry. The aim was to educate and inspire conversations about how we can design with the health of the planet—and ourselves—in mind, while also building new connections among industry professionals. A huge thank you to our speakers Chloe Bullock FRSA, BIID Reg ID, BA (hons) , Emer Gillespie , Summer O. , Scott Lewis and host Roddy Clarke , for sharing your expertise, inspiring us, and sparking meaningful discussions with the audience. And thank you to everyone who came—it was great to see so many of you there! Nathan Neal , the team, and I look forward to seeing you at the next event in April! If you’d like to get involved in April’s event as a panellist, sponsor, guest etc, or if you’d like to join the DAB.UK community by becoming a member, send me a message. KTM Design

I was going to write out a long post, but Bridie James wrote it so eloquently, I'm going to share her thoughts. What a great day we had in Bournemouth yesterday at the first DAB.UK event on sustainable style in the built environment. Thanks to the organisers, what a great first event, thanks to Roddy Clarke for being an engaging and excellent chair and to the other great speakers, Chloe Bullock, Scott Lewis from The Bide and Summer Obaid. The more we share, the more we inspire, the more we learn, the more we can work in a sustainable, responsible way.

Thank you very much to DAB.UK for organising such an inspiring event this week - Sustainable Style: interior design and architecture for greener living, where a vibrant panel of industry leading designers discussed the nuances of sustainable design🪴 My key insights from this event are the importance of an ongoing sustainability conversation and the positive ripple effect this can have within our communities. The benefits in doing business with people nearby and investing in our own communities. I particularly liked Emer Gillespie’s approach to investing in local skilled makers allowing traditional skills to stay within our ecosystem. Chloe Bullock FRSA, BIID Reg ID, BA (hons) shared her expertise on designing sustainably and how this intertwines simultaneously with health and wellness. It was great to be part of a community of people with shared intention to create a better world for us and future generations!🌎
