This dedication extends from our delicious food to the technology that powers our business, which is why we migrated our legacy systems to Shopify! We're thrilled to spotlight Jackson Mlawer (he/him). Jackson is our Senior Manager of Product Management and was pivotal in ensuring the re-platforming was a success. 🥑 What are you most excited about with Daily Harvest now being on Shopify? I’m most excited about the product team’s ability to drive positive impacts for our customers (and the business) at a scale, speed, and agility that were unimaginable on our legacy platform. We’ve greatly reduced the complexity of our systems and our team can now focus our energy on strategic differentiators in service of our north star: delivering a frictionless, engaging, and enjoyable customer experience. 👨💻 What were some of the biggest challenges you faced during the migration, and how did you overcome them? Organizational change management, both from a technology and process perspective, was one of the biggest hurdles we faced throughout the implementation. As part of our re-platform, we introduced a ton of new systems and internal process changes across all business units, from our customer care team to operations and marketing. To help overcome these changes, we created squads with subject matter leaders who guided various teams through training sessions and newly created documentation. This helped to ease a lot of the organizational angst and drive an overall positive change management for the business. 🤝 What advice would you give other product managers leading a similar project? The importance of prioritization, consensus building, and setting (and sticking to) an MVP feature-set. Before entering the project build phase, we established a core set of customer journeys (in the form of a future state sitemap) that would eventually become our MVP experience. As our scope was getting defined, we conducted various product roadshows with teams throughout the business to ensure alignment and address any questions/concerns. I’m a huge advocate of co-creation, in and out of the product team, so having these roadshow sessions helped drive consensus building, generated creative ideas, and avoided scope changes later in the project. #teammemberspotlight #shopify #productmanagement

    Meet Sydney Robertson, CFS(she/her), our Associate Manager of Culinary R&D, and Isabel Guerriero (she/her), our Associate Manager of Culinary Innovation! They joined forces to bring you not one, but two new additions to the DH menu — Butternut Squash + Cauliflower Mac n' Cheeze, which joins the Pasta collection, and Sesame Fried Rice + Edamame, which joins the Grains collection. 💡 What sparked the idea for these new recipes? Sydney: Our goal is to get people to eat more fruits and veggies daily. And what’s the easiest way to do that? Using concepts people crave and taking their favorite comfort food and veggie-fying it. Fried rice, in all its forms, is one of the most comforting dishes for me. I had it at least once a week in college, so I loved the idea of making a guilt-free remix of a classic dish. Isabel: Our pasta was inspired by comforting classics and designed to be a quick and easy solution to eat more fruits and vegetables. To me, mac ‘n’ cheese is the definition of comfort food, so I knew we needed to add it to the collection. It’s my go-to dish when I need a fun pick-me-up or want to treat myself. I can’t wait for everyone to enjoy this indulgent yet good-for-you take on this classic. 🍽 Can you walk us through the process of creating these dishes? Sydney: I wanted this SKU to be as colorful as possible, reminiscent of a typical fried rice with some Daily Harvest-esque flare. We went through a few iterations trying to nail down the familiar umami notes while dealing with processing constraints and keeping the label clean. After many versions and some VIP customer input, we landed on the version of Sesame Fried Rice + Edamame that just launched. Isabel: Having developed all the pasta in our portfolio, I always knew I wanted to make a mac ‘n’ cheese. The most challenging part of the whole process was creating a plant-based cheeze sauce that was equal parts creamy, flavorful, and reminiscent of what people would expect for mac and cheese. This process involved a bit of creativity, many formula iterations, and team tastings to finally land on the right one. With the sauce ready to go, finding the perfect ratio of pasta to sauce to veg was the only thing left to do. 💓 What excites you most about the new SKUs? Sydney: I’m happy that people will be able to romanticize their weeknight dinners with this product. No time to stand over a wok and make your own fried rice? No problem. Customers can still have those familiar and comforting flavors in under five minutes. They can add a fried egg and some sriracha, or remix it however they like. We gave customers a flavorful canvas to fancify their meals without leaving their homes.
