Exciting news for Idaho’s food and dairy industry! Boise State’s Food and Dairy Innovation Center has officially opened in its new location within the Micron Center for Materials Research. To celebrate, the center hosted an open house showcasing cutting-edge student research and new facilities, followed by a reception for Boise State faculty, staff, students and industry leaders. Eric Bastian, Dairy West's VP of Innovation Partnerships, shared his thoughts on this milestone: "With the opening of the Food and Dairy Innovation Center at Boise State University and its connection to the BUILD Dairy Program, the status of dairy research for Idaho and the region has improved significantly. Under the direction of Dr. Owen McDougal and in conjunction with Dairy West, Boise State University is becoming a go-to center for dairy research and for students to support the dairy industry through being technically trained and able to help push dairy innovation for Idaho and the western region of the U.S.” The Food and Dairy Innovation Center takes a multi-disciplinary approach, working closely with partners like Daisy Brand, Chobani, Glanbia Nutritionals and more to address unique challenges in the food and dairy sector. Since its founding in 2021, the center has secured over $20 million in external funding and is fueling advancements that benefit Idaho’s agriculture—from wildfire smoke research affecting potatoes to pioneering applications in wine production. With students at its core, the center not only strengthens Idaho’s agricultural heritage but also paves the way for future generations by equipping them with hands-on experience and professional networks. Congratulations to Boise State University and the Food and Dairy Innovation Center on this impactful step forward! 📸 Pictured: Food and Dairy Innovation Center Director Owen McDougal, Dean Leslie Durham and Dairy West’s Eric Bastian at the reception. 🔗 Full story at https://bit.ly/4e9h1ki #BoiseState #Idaho #AgNews #FoodScience #Innovation #Partnerships #DairyIndustry

For the past three years, Glanbia Nutritionals has been a steady source of support for the Blackfoot Community Pantry & Outreach, donating 40 pounds of premium cheese every single week. That’s over $25,000 worth of high-quality cheese helping families in need in our community. This week, the Community Pantry team honored Glanbia with a special wooden plaque as a token of gratitude, saying, “Thanks from a grateful community.” Plant manager Dave Bunnell and Glanbia employees accepted the award just before another round of food boxes – once again including their cheese – were distributed. Glanbia may be a global leader known for their expertise in cheese, dairy proteins and nutritional solutions, but they remain deeply committed to supporting local organizations. From Blackfoot to Twin Falls and beyond, they’re making a real impact both on a large scale and right here at home. Great job, Glanbia, for your unwavering dedication to the community and for making sure quality nutrition is accessible to those who need it most. #CommunitySupport #LocalHeroes #Idaho #DairyStrong #FoodPantry #FightHunger

Introducing Nurri, a new, better-for-you milk shake brand making its debut at Costco stores across the U.S. ⭐️ With its chocolate protein shakes offering 30 grams of protein and just one gram of sugar per 11 oz can, Nurri is setting a new standard for balancing indulgence and nutrition. The shakes are made using an ultrafiltration process that makes them lactose-free, ensuring they’re gentle on digestion while providing 10 essential vitamins and minerals, including Vitamin D, calcium and zinc to support bone health and immunity. Adam Tollefson, director of marketing at Trilliant Food & Nutrition, shares, “We wanted to create a product that truly nourishes, without sacrificing flavor. Our high-protein, low-sugar shakes offer a convenient way for consumers to meet their health goals while enjoying the creamy taste of a milkshake.” Nurri’s innovative approach is not only good for consumers but for the dairy industry as a whole. As demand rises for healthier alternatives, dairy producers can benefit from offering products that align with these evolving consumer preferences. With its focus on ultrafiltered milk protein beverages, Nurri taps into a growing market segment while utilizing sustainable dairy practices. This can boost demand for high-quality dairy ingredients and support the development of more functional products. Tom Lehocky, VP of sales at Trilliant, adds, “With significant supply constraints in the ultrafiltered milk protein market, we saw an opportunity to deliver something fresh to Costco and the broader category.” Nurri’s debut is just the beginning, with plans to expand into other categories like iced coffees and creamers. Available in 12-packs at Costco, Nurri is inspiring innovation in dairy, combining quality and convenience in every can. #DairyInnovation #NurriShakes #ProteinNutrition #LactoseFree #DairyIndustry #CostcoFind #SustainableDairy #AgNews #NewProduct

Chobani is making a powerful impact in the fight against hunger in the Magic Valley, partnering with local organizations to ensure families have access to healthy, nutritious food. Their latest project, "Lola," is a 28-foot refrigerated trailer stationed at St. Luke’s Magic Valley, housing perishable items like eggs, dairy and fresh produce. Working alongside St. Luke's Health System, Glanbia Nutritionals and the Idaho Food Bank, Chobani aims to provide 2,500 healthy meals to families in need each week. Food insecurity in the Twin Falls and Jerome areas has risen sharply, with hunger increasing by 40% since the pandemic. Chobani’s chief impact officer, Nishant Roy, highlighted the urgent need, stating, "Access to nutrient-dense food is a basic human right, and we want to ensure our community is getting the nutritious meals they deserve." With a shortfall of nearly one million pounds of food in the region, Lola is a much-needed resource for families. The trailer, powered by St. Luke’s and managed in partnership with the Idaho Food Bank, is already making a difference. Local food pantries are working hard to distribute these essential food items, and the response from the community has been overwhelmingly positive. Just one week after launching, food is reaching the families who need it most. This initiative highlights the importance of collaboration across sectors—healthcare, food production and nonprofit organizations—coming together to tackle hunger head-on. Chobani and its partners are committed to creating lasting change and ensuring no family in the Magic Valley goes hungry. 🔗 Read more at https://bit.ly/4dCktny. #EndHunger #FightFoodInsecurity #MagicValley #DairyDoesGood #AgNews
