Working with influencers is making an impact! Dr. Paul Kononoff, Professor of Dairy Nutrition at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, was recently a guest speaker during a Dairy Crawl event Midwest Dairy hosted in Lincoln, Nebraska. To prepare for the Crawl, Dr. Kononoff gathered his thoughts in an article, which was later published by Nebraska State Dairy Association. We're excited to share that Hoard's Dairyman published the article, and as a result, a research geneticist contacted Dr. Kononoff to discuss future collaboration opportunities that would have a positive impact on the dairy industry. Small changes lead to big results!

Millions of consumers face food insecurities throughout the United States. Midwest Dairy is dedicated to sharing dairy's story, and the role dairy plays in meeting food insecurity needs. Recently, Midwest Dairy partnered with organizations in Chicago to tell dairy's sustainability story and engage with food system partners to promote dairy to communities in need. In one event, we partnered with GROW GREATER ENGLEWOOD, Growing Home Inc., and Urban Growers Collective to host the third annual Chicago Urban Ag Crawl - an event that brought together attendees to tour urban farms, community gardens, and neighborhood block gardens that are meeting the needs of community members experiencing food insecurity and food deserts. In a second event, we joined Just Roots Chicago to host a Farm to Table dinner where partners and organizations gathered for dinner and conversations. At this event, Midwest Dairy staff was able to share information about dairy farmer's dedication to sustainability and dairy's nutritional benefits. We look forward to supporting more communities across our 10-state region to answer the call for food insecurity solutions and showing how dairy can be a strong answer in meeting those needs, both nutritionally and sustainably!

Wonder how Midwest Dairy is engaging thought leaders to help grow their trust in dairy? In Nebraska, we recently took thought leaders on a dairy crawl to enjoy dairy-centered meals and learn how the dairy industry has changed over the past 50 years to improve the environment. Dairy farmer Ann Engleman and her granddaughter Alli, along with Prairieland Dairy manager Darren Mueller, also joined as speakers, sharing with attendees how their respective dairy farms have implemented new technologies and practices to improve their sustainability efforts. Thank you to Rural Radio Network for the interview opportunity!

Midwest Dairy recently participated in several events across our 10-state region to connect with these thought leaders and share the good news about dairy's sustainable and nutritional benefits.
