DRC President and CEO Dale Petroskey was honored last night by D CEO and the Communities Foundation of Texas with the Nonprofit Leadership Excellence Award—naming him the most exceptional nonprofit leader in the Dallas Region. Out of hundreds of nominations, D CEO editors selected Dale for his “ten-year transformation” of the DRC's operations and impact on the region since taking the helm April 1, 2014. In accepting the honor on behalf of the "60 talented, hardworking, and good people" that make up the DRC team, Dale called the corporate and nonprofit communities to action, pointing out how the Dallas Region’s economic strength presents a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to narrow opportunity gaps, particularly in the under-championed communities of Southern Dallas County. “We live in a community that is so prosperous in one area but, not too far away, has great needs. We need to use this moment in time—this sweet moment in time—to make sure these folks are never forgotten and that they have the same opportunities for a good education, a good job, and a good life. That’s what we at the Dallas Regional Chamber work hard on every single day.” He continued, reflecting on the awards ceremony, “There are so many good people in this community doing such great work. I want to say thank you to all of you for making this community what it is and making it better tomorrow than it is today.”
