Credit cards can be a valuable tool for building a healthy financial future. When used responsibly, they can help you establish a solid credit history, making it easier to finance larger purchases like a home or vehicle in the future. If you don't have a strong credit history, you can still qualify for a credit card. Here's how you can apply for a credit card, what to look for in a credit card, and how credit cards can help you achieve your future financial goals. You can apply for a card online or visit a bank branch to work with a representative. Look for a card with no annual fee and one that reports to all three credit bureaus. This way, you can build credit history and improve your chance of getting future credit cards and loans. Time is the best way to build credit history, so make sure you keep your credit card account open even if you don't use the actual card much. Make your payments on time and avoid "maxing out" your card. If you don't have a credit history, consider starter credit cards for those new to credit, including student credit cards and store credit cards. You can also ask to become an authorized user on someone else's card. Get good credit with credit cards: Applying for and using a credit card responsibly can be a step toward building a solid financial future. As you establish your credit history, you can use tools like Chase Credit Journey to check and monitor your credit report so you can stay on track toward your financial goals. What are your thoughts on using credit cards to build credit history? Do you have any tips or strategies that have worked for you? Share your insights in the comments below. In a historic moment for women's soccer in the Lone Star State, Dallas Trinity FC took on Barcelona Femení at the iconic Cotton Bowl Stadium. This marked a significant milestone for the newly formed Trinity franchise, as they faced off against one of the most dominant teams in women’s football worldwide. The Cotton Bowl, a symbol of Southern football tradition, will provide a unique and inspiring atmosphere for Trinity’s matches. This partnership also offers an opportunity to strengthen ties between the team and the local community, especially in South Dallas. Despite the daunting task of keeping up with the world’s best women’s football club, Dallas did everything in their power to make a good showing for the home crowd. The team’s defense, in particular, proved to be a formidable obstacle for Barcelona’s high-powered offense. While the 0-6 final score may not have been in Trinity FC’s favor, the inaugural match against Barcelona Femení was far more valuable than the team’s learning experience alone. By taking on such a high-profile and formidable opponent, Trinity FC demonstrated their commitment to striving for excellence from day one. What are your thoughts on the future of women's soccer in the United States? How do you think this historic match will impact the sport's growth and development? Texas athletes dominated the 2024 Olympics in Paris, contributing 53 out of the 126 medals won by the United States, showcasing Black excellence on the world stage. 🏅✨ Sha’Carri Richardson, an Oak Cliff native, dazzled in her Olympic debut, winning silver in the 100 meters and gold in the 4x100 meter relay, with her unique nail designs—including one featuring her quote, “I’m not back, I’m better”—making a statement. Tara Davis-Woodhall brought her Texas pride to the high jump, celebrating her gold medal with her trademark cowgirl hat and the American flag. In gymnastics, the Texas influence was undeniable. Spring’s Simone Biles led the U.S. to gold alongside Jordan Chiles, who trained with Biles and celebrated their win with a custom grill to match her medal. Biles added a silver in individual competition, while Chiles, after a controversial appeal, secured bronze in the floor exercise, leading to an iconic Olympic moment as they bowed to Brazil's Rebeca Andrade. This success continues a proud tradition of Texas Olympians, following in the footsteps of legends like Zina Garrison, Michael Johnson, and Tommie Smith, who famously raised his fist in protest at the 1968 Olympics. With the 2028 Olympics in Los Angeles on the horizon, we can’t wait to see how Texas athletes will continue to represent their state and bring home more medals. The Democratic National Convention in Chicago was a night to remember, featuring a star-studded lineup of artists and politicians. The event was a celebration of Kamala Harris's background and a call to action for the 2024 presidential election. Stevie Wonder, Oprah Winfrey, John Legend, and other stars took the stage, making it a night to remember. The event was a celebration of Harris's own background, while not denigrating anyone else's experience. The night also featured rising stars from the political world, including future Speaker of the House Hakeem Jeffries, Pennsylvania Governor Andy Shapiro, Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg, and Maryland Governor Wes Moore. Two of them had been vetted as Harris's possible running mates, and any one of them might find themselves on the convention stage in the years to come. The Democrats' message was clear: this election is about who we want to be as a nation. They urged Americans to choose between a hate-filled administration giving us four more chaotic years of Donald Trump's egomaniacal personal obsessions or a heart-filled administration focused on the public good. The event was a celebration of diversity and inclusivity, with a focus on the importance of love, freedom, and joy. It was a reminder that we are all in this together, and that we must work together to build a better future for all.
