Elisa Manrique is a proud Murphy Alumna and a Deerfield Academy graduate from the Class of 2010. Following Deerfield, she pursued her undergraduate studies at Georgetown University, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts in Government in 2014. Elisa is currently an MBA candidate at the University of Chicago Booth School of Business. Before starting her MBA journey, she had an impressive decade-long career at Goldman Sachs, where she rose to the position of Vice President, working across fund services and bank relationship management. Elisa has been an active supporter of DMSF throughout her career. She joined the DMSF Associate Board in 2019 and quickly took on leadership roles, serving as Secretary in 2020 and Chair in 2022. Her dedication and passion for the organization's mission led her to recently join the DMSF Board of Directors. Reflecting on her journey with DMSF, Elisa shared, "I am deeply honored to join the Daniel Murphy Scholarship Fund (DMSF) Board of Directors. As a DMSF alumna, this organization has not only opened doors to an educational journey beyond what I could have imagined but has also supported and celebrated me every step of the way. Joining the Board is a way for me to give back to an organization that has shaped my path, and I am excited to contribute to its mission of expanding opportunities for future generations of students." Growing up in Pilsen, Elisa has always understood the transformative power of education. She believes that a good education can open doors to opportunities that can change one’s path, both personally and professionally. For Elisa, education has been a way to level the playing field, providing access and equity. Living in Pilsen with her husband, Elisa remains committed to giving back to the community that shaped her journey and is excited to help DMSF continue its mission. We are thrilled to share the success of our Murphy Alums, Diego, Thewfic, and Josh, who excelled as ATLAS Fellows this summer during their first internships at BAM! ATLAS Fellows transforms the finance sector by opening doors for brilliant, under-resourced young people to access life-changing careers in finance. Founded in 2021 with support from BAM, ATLAS is the only nonprofit focused on identifying talent early and developing young people for careers in financial services. This four-year college and career development program helps diverse and under-resourced high school seniors gain industry knowledge, experience, and networks through full-time paid internships at top firms, starting with BAM. Fellows also receive up to $20,000 per year in college financial assistance, making finance careers more accessible. Join us in welcoming David Cunningham to the DMSF Board of Directors! David has been an active member of the Chicagoland community for over 25 years, contributing to healthcare, human services, and education initiatives. Originally from Akron, Ohio, David graduated from Miami University with a degree in accounting before moving to Chicago to begin his career as a Certified Public Tax Accountant at Ernst & Young. His journey in the commercial real estate industry led him to roles at Lincoln Property Company and InSite Real Estate before starting his own company, Net3 Real Estate Development, in 2009. David's passion for philanthropy is evident in his involvement with organizations such as the Chicago Food Depository, Breakthrough Urban Ministries, Lurie Children’s Hospital, and the Big Shoulders Fund. David's dedication to mentoring underprivileged students, particularly through the Big Shoulders Fund at St. Sylvester’s School, inspired him to join the DMSF Board. Witnessing the need for continued support beyond grade school, he became passionate about ensuring students have the guidance they need through high school and college. His personal connection to a Murphy Scholar and the organization's holistic approach to supporting students resonated deeply with him. David and his wife, Kirsten, believe in the transformative power of education and are committed to providing opportunities for students to succeed, just as they did for their three children. What an unforgettable night! 💫 Our Ignite Potential Gala was a true celebration of 35 years of transforming lives through education! Themed "Unveiling Dreams," we were honored to be surrounded by a remarkable community of supporters, Murphy Alums & Scholars, and educators, all united by a shared vision: providing access to the best educational opportunities for our Scholars. Held at The Geraghty, with 480 passionate supporters, including more than 100 Murphy Scholars and Alumni whose journeys have inspired us all, came together to raise over $1.65 million! 🎉 These funds will continue to unlock the dreams of Murphy Scholars, empowering them on their paths from high school to college and beyond.
