Meet our finalist, Luja 💧 Luja™ by Coloplast is a compact intermittent catheter (IC) with Micro-hole Zone Technology, designed to fully empty the bladder in one smooth flow, helping reduce the risk of Urinary tract infections (UTIs). It tackles common issues for users – 90% have to adjust their catheter, and UTIs are a big concern for both users and healthcare professionals 🚨 With over 50 micro-holes for women and 80 for men, Luja makes sure the bladder empties completely, no need to reposition. Meet our finalist, Living Places Copenhagen 🏠 Living Places Copenhagen by EFFEKT and VELUX shows how innovative construction can tackle global climate and health issues. With buildings responsible for 40 % of global energy use and CO2 emissions, the need for sustainable, healthy homes is urgent 🛟 Their prototypes have a low CO2 footprint, an excellent indoor climate, and are priced competitively. This project proves we can build sustainably now, without waiting for future technology. Meet our Young Ideas finalist, HandsUp 👋 HandsUp by Marek Kuźmiński focuses on boosting self-esteem and confidence in children by involving them in the playful design of their prostheses. The project allows children to co-design their own “super power hands,” transforming their disabilities into sources of strength 🦹💥 Using creative tools, children design their prostheses, visualize them in Virtual Reality, and turn them into 3D-printed models with help from the bioengineers #AutoMedPrint 🧬 HandsUp also fosters meaningful conversations between children, parents, and professionals about their futures. Meet our finalist, Gabriel LOOP 🧵 Gabriel LOOP by Gabriel is a take-back system dedicated to reducing textile waste and conserving natural resources. By recycling textile waste into new products, it promotes a circular economy that minimizes waste and lowers CO2 emissions. Their products are crafted from 100% recycled polyester, sourced from both post-consumer and post-industrial materials. They even combine textile waste with recycled plastic bottles 👕♻️ Ultimately bringing us closer to a sustainable solution for the environmental challenges facing the textile industry. Meet our Young Ideas finalist, EC 24/7 🚄 To tackle environmental challenges, we need to rethink our travel methods 💨 EC 24/7 by Peter van der Beek is a design proposal aimed at bringing back Danish night trains with connections to Central Europe 🛤️ This new train will operate day and night and is specifically designed for DSB's forthcoming fleet of electric long-distance trains. The goal is to offer a comfortable and affordable green alternative to air travel that is also financially sustainable for the operator. Their sustainable process turns waste into a valuable resource, helping nourish vulnerable communities while reducing environmental impact 🌍 Plus, their functional and elegant packaging shows that sustainability can be both appealing and enhance the user experience 🍽️ They collaborate with well-known brands like Hart Bakery, Ganni and noma to support their mission.
