  • Celebrating our student successes is one of our favorite things to do! Have you heard of Cory's Produce? A Davenport West High School student isn't just excelling in his studies but has also made a significant mark in our community with his entrepreneurial spirit. Cory Carter started his own fresh produce stand at the age of 13. What started as a passion project has flourished into a thriving small business, celebrating its fifth successful year of providing locally-grown produce to our community. At DCSD, Cory is known for always having his cowboy hat on and now his produce has made a name for itself in our community. We're proud to see how far his hard work has brought him.

  • Growing Excellence, one pair of glasses at a time. We want to say thank you to the community partners who helped bring the Vision To Learn initiative to students at DCSD! Recently, we celebrated 110 students from Fillmore Elementary who have received the gift of clearer vision. “It was the best day of my life,” is how Fillmore Elementary student Shawn Mukabane described the moment he received his new pairs of glasses. Thank you United Way Quad Cities for providing a vision for success to local elementary school students through the Vision To Learn program. Since the August 2023 launch of the program in Davenport, it has provided over 1,900 vision screenings and two pairs of glasses each to 515 local students at no cost to students or their families.
