Employee Spotlight - Between the Lines At Davey, our teams are synonymous with hard hats and hard work! But each of our team members has their own unique life story, career journey, and Davey tale. You may see our fleet out driving or our people out walking the utility lines…so join us each month to get to know our people working Between the Lines. Feature: Evan Howey I started my #Davey career 9 years ago thanks to a referral from a good friend. I began with the data collection crew, then moved into double wood pole audits, and eventually transitioned to Make Ready Engineering for Google fiber. As I grew with the #engineering segment, our team grew to work closely with utility clients to meet their needs. In 2020, I became the Project Manager for the design team. From there, I shifted to support the launch of a project with a utility client, which has grown into an established project supported by over 60 employees. In 2022, I made the decision to pause my career and pursue a lifelong dream: hiking the Appalachian Trail. Like many, I kept waiting for the "right" time, but knew that the perfect moment would never just arrive - I had to create it. So, I committed, planned, and gave myself no option but to follow through. I love #DRG because it’s the kind of company that recognizes hard work. I didn't want to step away from the company permanently, so I shared my plans with my manager, letting him know I needed about 7 months away. Together, we made a plan. I trained my replacement and ensured the project would thrive, and my team backed me every step of the way. Their support was evident, and it reminded me of the power of having a strong community around you - both at work and in life. In April 2023 I started my hike in Georgia, aiming for 100 miles per week with a plan to reach Maine by September. 6 pairs of shoes and 155 days later, I met my goal. It was amazing to meet people from different walks of life who shared the same goal. Without much cell service or distractions, the connections I made with others around a campfire were immediate and meaningful. I learned a lot about myself during the hike. Although I hiked mostly solo, I joined trail families when it was convenient and used the Far Out app for trail information. Hiker hunger is no joke—sometimes, I'd go into town and spend the entire day in a restaurant, eating full meals every couple of hours. And my very supportive girlfriend, Amy, joined me for 3 separate weeks during the hike. While I doubt I’ll ever do such a long solo hike again - since there are other life milestones I don’t want to miss out on - I’m incredibly glad I did it. I returned to DRG in a designer role and recently transitioned into a Project Management Support role. This journey taught me that pursuing your goals is important, but what makes the journey meaningful is having the support of a team that believes in you - just as much as you believe in them.

Employee Spotlight - Between the Lines At Davey, our teams are synonymous with hard hats and hard work! But each of our team members has their own unique life story, career journey, and Davey tale. You may see our fleet out driving or our people out walking the utility lines…so join us each month to get to know our people working Between the Lines Feature: Grace Turner I grew up in Northeast Ohio, not far from the #Davey headquarters. I attended The Ohio State University, where I participated in the Integrated Business & Engineering Honors Program along with a minor in Spanish. I spent a year interning at #DRG during college in 2020-2021 as we seemed to be busier than ever while most other companies were cutting back. My #intern experience was distinctly different from what I had heard about from many of my peers, which is what drew me back to DRG years later as a full time employee. From the beginning, I was given the freedom to be creative and take #ownership of my work. When I had ideas of how to better track project metrics or finances, I was more than welcome to give it a try - sometimes this led to failures and other times it led to big successes. I also had the opportunity to go to Mississippi to help with a storm response for Hurricane Zeta, which was an amazing experience. I saw people putting their own lives on pause to take care of others, which really made me love this company. Today, my work is mainly projecting and analyzing costs and hours. I came on full time right after a migration to the cloud based version of #SAP, so I decided I would become a resident expert on it for our group. I am learning so much more about this software and our operational finances than I ever thought I would need to know and I’m enjoying it. I feel like I get to solve puzzles every day. As a member of the Operations Support Team, I try to understand the perspective of our field employees and help them take accountability to know their finances so we can call out when things don’t look right. I am striving to use my talents to help them make good decisions. In my spare time, I enjoy competing in triathlons, windsurfing and spending time with my family. I recently got engaged and am having lots of fun planning our upcoming wedding and honeymoon.
