We enjoyed being part of the Championship of AI: Evolution, Revolution and Adaptation conversation at USF this week. We also had the opportunity to highlight better health outcomes for Women through our bodyAPI and smart garment gateway.
It was an honor to moderate the panel discussion on "The Championship of AI: Evolution, Revolution and Adaptation" at yesterday's USF Women in Philanthropy & Leadership conference in Tampa. Thank you to the panelists Christy Fernandez-Cull, PhD, MBA, founder and CEO of Davinci Wearables; Salit Nagy-Todd, SVP at Raymond James Financial; and Tamarah Usher, Senior Director of AI Innovation at Slalom.

Thank you Jessie Harris. It takes a village and we are delighted to be highlighted. We have some announcements on the horizon highlighting how we are empowering girls and women toward better health outcomes through body intelligence and personalized and sports specific insights and training plans. Stay tuned!
Girls quit sports at 2x the rate of boys. The drop-off begins at age 14, as body changes kill confidence. • Half of girls quit sports during puberty. • 42% of 12–14-year-olds avoid exercising on their period. • Nearly 50% of 1K surveyed athletes missed training due to menstruation symptoms. But, the barriers to participation extend deeper into culture. 1/ Just 8% of published studies have focused on female physiology. 2/ In 2019, women’s sports made up just 5.4% of major media coverage. 3/ ~86% of NCAA institutions offer more athletic opportunities and scholarships to males. From lack of scientifically-sound guidance fueling injury, to lack of cultural support driving dropout, obstacles are ever-present. Moving forward, encouraging girls to embrace exercise calls for support across schools, science, media, and society.

Four 🐐s all with something in common, and yet one is experiencing a very different reaction... ⚽ Lionel Messi: Widely regarded the greatest footballer in history, Messi's journey was shaped by his early use of human growth hormone (HGH) to treat a growth hormone deficiency. Today, Messi is a eight-time winner of the prestigious Ballon d’Or (MVP of the World), 4 UEFA Champions League titles, and led Argentina to win the World Cup in 2022. Without the use of HGH, which is banned in most sports outside of medical necessity, we may not have seen this incredible athlete on the pitch. 🏇 Secretariat: This legendary racehorse had a heart weighing 22 pounds, more than twice the size of an average horse. Fifty years after his Triple Crown, Secretariat still holds the record for the fastest Derby, Preakness and Belmont runs of all time. All thanks to his extraordinary physical trait and genetic advantages. 🏊♂️ Michael Phelps: The most decorated Olympian of all time, Phelps possesses double-jointed ankles and elbows, giving him a unique range of motion. To this day, Michael Phelps holds four world records and has the record for the most gold medals ever won at the Olympics(23). 🥊 Imane Khelif: The winner of the 2024 Olympic Gold Medal in Women's Boxing, many have raised concerns about the fact that she may have been born with XY chromosomes, and may have elevated levels of testosterone due to her genetic exceptionality. Khelif has been disqualified from some international boxing competitions due to failing tests associated with these traits, though the tests themselves remain undisclosed by the governing bodies and the organizations themselves are dubious at best. It is important to note that Khelif is not transgender, did not undergo male puberty, has never taken or been accused of taking synthetic hormones, self-identifies as a female, and has been identified as female *since birth* - likely due to the presence of female sex and reproductive organs. 🎯 As we celebrate athletic excellence, it's crucial to recognize that many factors contribute to an athlete's success, including unique physiological traits that they are born with. Cherry picking these traits as acceptable or not seems to me like a departure from the spirit of sport in the first place: to celebrate those among us who stand out for their dedication, skill, and genetic advantages. 👏 🥇 We should all congratulate Imane Khelif on her incredible accomplishments and perseverance. #olympics #imanekhelif #womenssports
