Meet Ivan Burazin, Co-Founder of Daytona I had the incredible opportunity to spend over 45 minutes with Ivan Burazin, and his journey is nothing short of inspirational. There’s a common belief that you need to be from big tech hubs like the US or Silicon Valley to build a successful technology company. But Ivan proved this wrong. Ivan comes from a small town in Croatia, and his story is rooted in humble beginnings. From selling newspapers and popcorn as a kid to eventually building impactful tech ventures, Ivan’s path wasn’t an obvious one—but it was a powerful one. In 2012, Ivan founded the SHIFT Conference to create a platform for developers and innovators, which grew into Southeast Europe’s largest tech event. SHIFT brought together global tech players like Amazon, Microsoft, and Facebook to Croatia, spotlighting the region on the global tech map. By 2021, SHIFT was acquired by Infobip In 2013, Ivan launched Codeanywhere, a first-of-its-kind platform that allowed developers to code directly in their browser—no local installation needed. The concept was ahead of its time, and today, with cloud-based development being standard, Ivan’s early vision for Codeanywhere is more relevant than ever. From there, Ivan moved on to Infobip as the Chief Developer Experience Officer, where he gained crucial insights into the enterprise landscape. With this experience, he went on to create Daytona— a self-hosted and secure open source development environment manager. Podcast Highlights and Key Moments: 1. Navigating Funding Challenges We discussed two paths to securing funding: having an Ivy League background or strong VC connections, versus building credibility without a network. Ivan explained how each path requires a unique approach to break into the startup world. 2. Team Building on a Tight Budget When resources are limited, building a skilled team becomes challenging. Ivan spoke about his strategy for hiring, balancing junior engineers with experienced team members to make the most of a lean budget. Sounds, interesting? Watch full episode: https://lnkd.in/gjEnpu9D
