Construction is coming along at Fort Dupont Ice Arena in Washington, DC. Vaclav Malek, AIA, an architect on the project, led our DC team members on an informative tour to share behind-the-scenes insights. This is one of many valuable opportunities for our Quinn Evans team to learn directly from one another and enhance skills with new tips and techniques. We have developed a strong culture of sharing expertise across the firm and continue to foster collaboration and innovation. We’re looking forward to Fort Dupont Ice Arena opening to the community later this year. Until then, take a sneak peek at one of our “coolest” projects! 🏒 🧊 ⛸️| DC Department of General Services

Explore how the low-maintenance engineering design of District of Columbia Public Schools (DCPS)’ John Lewis Elementary School is setting a new standard in #EnergyEfficient, #HighPerformance MEP systems for #K12 facilities, performing at an EUI of 16. This forward-thinking approach includes centralized #geothermal systems that minimize upkeep and provide a hub for all system components, streamlining facility management processes. By reducing maintenance demands, the collaboration between Perkins Eastman DC Department of General Services, Gilbane Building Company, and CMTA has delivered significant cost savings for DC Public Schools, allowing more resources to be allocated directly to educating our children.

This week in our #DGSProud Employee Spotlight series, meet Michael Lightfoot, Risk Manager in our Office of the Director. With over 4 years of dedicated service at DGS, he's continuing to create positive change in the District. We asked Michael, when people think of DGS, what should they know about our agency. He shared, when people think of DGS, they should know just how hard and dedicated all our employees are. We are sometimes faced with impossible tasks and our team handles them all with efficiency and precision. We asked Michael what makes him #DGSProud. What makes me #DGSProud is the feeling of family and the teamwork we use to accomplish our tasks. I am proud to be a part of this team and hope all could see this agency through my eyes. A work-related accomplishment Michael shared was, I was honored to be a part of the acquisition and placement of the District’s first public use AED placed at our own Eastern Market location. Thanks to Director Hunter and our team of DGS professionals, this device is now readily available to everyone and has the ability to save the lives of those who may be in need. Join us in celebrating Michael Lightfoot’s contributions to DGS and his work in ensuring the safety of our District community! #DGSProud
