I had the pleasure of representing the University of Chicago as an Accessibility Advocate alongside Pat Kogos, Director of the Center for Digital Accessibility. Together, we participated in the inspiring hackathon organized by Code Your Dreams and Deaf Kids Code. It was truly motivating to hear from remarkable individuals like the first deaf Miss Austin, a skilled welder, and passionate accessibility advocate, Rebecca Giuntoli. The projects presented at the end of the day, crafted within a limited timeframe, were truly impressive. We're excited to announce KubeCrash Spring 2024, the free virtual conference for Kubernetes adopters that focuses 100% on open source! This year's theme is Platform Engineering: Building the Ultimate Internal Developer Platform. Alongside our friends at Backstage from Spotify, appCD, Civo, Fairwinds, and Venafi, we'll dive deep into platform engineering and how to build the ultimate internal developer platform (IDP). Each technical session will focus on different building blocks or best practices for constructing an IDP that will match your organization's needs while fostering developer productivity and operational excellence. Don't miss Spotify's keynote on how they successfully scaled an internal Backstage instance with over 200 plugins, effectively managing the daily demands of thousands of engineers, and many more great sessions!  Also, we're partnering up with our fellow KubeCrash organizers to donate $1 for each registration to Deaf Kids Code. Last weekend, Fetch volunteers joined members of our Amplify and Adapt ERG at the Deaf Kids Code and Code Your Dreams Hackathon. The “Hack for Accessibility” event, hosted at Google’s Chicago office, brought together nearly 200 student attendees to develop projects to help people in the deaf community. Our volunteers had the opportunity to mentor participants, helping them fine-tune their solutions, before the students took the stage to pitch their innovations. Thank you to all of our volunteers for being an integral part of this transformative day that fostered innovation and supported greater accessibility in technology!

I enjoyed attending the Accessibiliity Hackathon at Google hosted by Code Your Dreams & Deaf Kids Code. I am thrilled to announce that yesterday, me and my brother Nikolai Nechaev attended the Accessibility Hackathon by Code Your Dreams and Deaf Kids Code at Google Chicago office. A special thank you to the coolest organizers, Shireen Hafeez and Brianne Caplan 🌟, who made this event happened. Thanks for a great opportunity to not just meet with great folks, but also contribute ideas/solutions to support deaf community. It was interesting to see how my own experiences with disability could benefit the deaf community as well. Also thank you Jessica Holberg for hosting this event. I'm also thankful for the exceptional support and mentorship provided by Cattalyya Nuengsigkapian and Miroslava O. during the event.
