  • According to a 2024 study by Deloitte, 86% of Gen Zs and millennials want purpose-driven work. In general that means having the opportunity to have their work have a positive contribution to society and enable recognition by others. But also more importantly to employers, the purpose-driven seekers are not afraid to turn down work or a job offer or leave their current jobs in order to find something that is more in-line with their personal ethics or beliefs. In 2023, Linked in reported that 70% of this group (which makes up 69% of the work force) was looking to leave their jobs. Yikes! This leaves employers and top-leadership in a quandary. How do you keep your talent engaged and feeling that their work is important? I’d love to hear your thoughts.

  • I just read an article that illustrated something so important in HR in such a straight forward and simple way, I just had to share... Johnny Campbell, CEO/Co-Founder @socialtalent.com was commenting on how setting a candidates expectations (and meeting them) is critical. This was his illustration. “Imagine you are applying for two jobs, one with Company A and one with Company B. Your process with both has been very similar: You’ve submitted your application, you’ve been moved on to screening, and you’re in contact with the resident recruiter and they say: Company A: “We’ll get back to you in the next seven days.” Company B: “We’ll get back to you in the next 14 days.” Both reach out in 10 days. How do you feel? Company B has knocked it out of the park! You weren’t expecting to hear from them for another four days — so this is great! But you’re a little disappointed in Company A. You’ve been waiting around for correspondence and you’ve been left in the dark.” That illustration knocks it out of the park. It’s so simple yet what you say and do in the interview process can make a big impact on whether you close the deal with your top candidate or not. If you say you’re going to get back to someone in 1 week, get back to them in 1 week! Even if you haven’t made your decision, reach out and give your candidates an update.   • How do Executive Recruiters find Candidates? We know all the secret executive fishing spots of course! Actually that really is pretty close. Executive recruiters specialize in finding and placing candidates for high-level management positions. We use professional networks, referrals, events, online sources, and other methods to identify potential executives. By collaborating with company leaders, we gather information about job requirements, company goals and company culture, along with any additional candidate preferences to ensure a good match. Good recruiters can screen and evaluate potential candidates quickly by utilizing various tools and experience. Then a shortlist of candidates is selected and interviewed. Only when our team is certain we will be presenting the best options do we go back to the company with our recommendations. At that point, the owner/executive team will interview to evaluate the candidate. Once a selection has been made, companies often enlist the recruiter to assist with contract negotiations and executive on-boarding.
