Researchers developed a system that allows a man who lost the ability to speak due to amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) to communicate again in a synthetic version of his original voice. The system uses brain implants to capture speech signals and machine learning models to decode and synthesize speech. With continuous training and adaptive learning, the system achieved 97.5% accuracy, enabling the patient to speak at a rate of 31.6 words per minute.
