The internet can be a great place or a ruthless place. Already the "hunt" is on for this young woman who let her emotions get the best of her over the weekend -- and keyboard warriors no doubt 'will' discover her identity in time. This is why I constantly advocate for more employers to take #employeetraining more seriously in this arena of #socialmedia, as at some point when her identity is known, whoever she works for 'will also' come under scrutiny. In years past (thankfully not so much now) I have been asked, "will your training 'scare' my people or make them paranoid?" Quite the opposite. Fear often comes from the 'unknown' vs. the known. When the latter, the mind moves simply to awareness as you *know* what you're looking or listening for vs. having no clue (hence "fear"). For all the tornado drills, fire drills, and now active shooter drills our KIDS go through in school, how often do they return home fearful or paranoid? I think your employees will be just fine. Final days of a little Halloween fun in marketing theme. But it does speak to something many do not consider when addressing areas of #riskmanagement -- stress! We know that stress is often a pre-incident indicator of violence, but it can just as easily lead to unwanted "explosions" in the office regarding words exchanged (and later regretted) whether between employees, clients, or similar. As I was just returning from my normal early-morning walk, I was flagged down by an 18-wheeler driver delivering food/supplies to a local restaurant who was just ROBBED. They took his wallet as well as phone, so he could not even call the police, which is why he flagged me down walking across the street from him. FOLKS! Tomorrow morning I'll be giving an online presentation to 11-33 HR professionals from around the country for Charles Schwab, who recently heard me at another #hr conference.
