I was done with startup pitch events. When I was booted from TechCrunch in January, I was most upset about losing my role as host of Startup Battlefield. But then came along Resilience Conference with Leslie Hitchcock and Dr Tobias Stone. We knew from the start we had to bring the energy of Startup Battlefield to our show. Today, we take great pride in introducing our first cohort of selected companies. Their diversity is a testament to the wide-ranging scope of Resilience Conference. These companies, spanning critical sectors such as protection from drones, intelligent video collection, resilient edge data processing, GPS-free location navigation, and smartphone privacy solutions, will bring a wealth of knowledge and innovation to the event. Launch at Resilience Conference is not intended to rival Startup Battlefield. The aim is to provide a showcase rather than a competition. We conceived Launch as a platform where the selected companies stand on equal ground, using this pitching opportunity to advance their businesses, not to win a prize. Launch companies will be on the main stage, pitching to Resilience Conference attendees, who include company executives, startup founders, decision-makers from NATO governments, and defense primes. We have a considerable number of investors coming, too, including General Catalyst, Lightspeed, In-Q-Tel, DCVC, SOSV, D3, Project A Ventures, IQ Capital, Decisive Point, MD One Ventures, NATO Innovation Fund, and, among others, Expeditions Fund. Hosting TechCrunch's Startup Battlefield was one of my favorite duties at TechCrunch. The program started at the first TC Disrupt in 2010 and has been a main attraction at the conference since. Over 1,300 companies participated in the program. Since then, the show has had three hosts: Jason Kincaid (who was featured on HBO's Silicon Valley), Anthony Ha (who is one of my favorite people and is now back at TC), and me. I started hosting Startup Battlefield in 2021 at TechCrunch's Disrupt show after Covid. From 2014 to 2019, I also ran and hosted Hardware Battlefield, an off-shoot of Startup Battlefield design for startups at CES. I understand the pressure that pitch events can exert on a company, and we at Resilience Conference are deeply appreciative of everyone who applied to Launch. We also extend a heartfelt thank you to all our partners and friends who encouraged companies to apply to our brand-new conference. Your support means a lot to us. Thank you. More soon! Resilience Conference is getting really exciting. Oh! And tickets are still available if you want to attend the event.
