** Reflecting on Growth and Opportunities in North Texas ** Yesterday was a truly introspective journey as SEDCO hosted the Sherman Mayor’s Economic Development Roundtable, featuring Ross Perot, Jr. as our keynote speaker. His insights prompted me to reflect on the exceptional work/life balance amenities available in North Texas. Ross highlighted several key attractions, including WinStar Casino, Choctaw Casino, and the stunning Lake Texoma, which offers hiking, camping, fishing, and various water activities. We are fortunate to witness significant economic development in our region, with expansions from Texas Instruments, Global Wafers, Coherent, and many other companies creating numerous job opportunities. Our North Texas Regional Airport is poised to become the fourth largest major airport in the area, thanks to its 9,000-foot runway and Foreign Trade Zone capabilities that support our industrial growth. Additionally, the Texoma Semiconductor Tech Hub, one of only 31 designated in the United States, is actively addressing the technical needs of our workforce through partnerships with local high schools and colleges. On a personal note, I had the pleasure of joining my daughter for my grandson's registration in the local scout organization. As a former Troop Committee Chairman and Wood Badge-trained scout leader, I was thrilled to participate. This experience reminded me of the Scout Motto: “Be Prepared.” It resonated with me as I considered the positive, business-friendly environment in Denison that fosters expansion and sustained growth. As we enhance our infrastructure services in the newly developed North Texas Logistics Park, we are indeed preparing for “such a time as this.” I am excited and proud to be part of the “Silicon Prairie” semiconductor expansions in North Texas, and I am grateful for the vision of our economic development team at the Denison Development Alliance, which supports tech companies eager to join us on this journey.
