The Worker Wallet is officially live!! Starting today, DOB is rolling out the new Worker Wallet—a single card that consolidates multiple training IDs into one! Designed for specialized roles like scaffold workers and riggers, this card packs convenience and security with an NFC chip that verifies all qualifications on the spot. Why the Worker Wallet? ✅ Say goodbye to carrying multiple ID cards for specialized workers ✅ Easily scan for all qualifications via smartphone ✅ Enhanced fraud protection Modeled after our highly popular Site Safety Training (SST) cards, the Worker Wallet will provide single card that will replace all existing non-SST training cards required for scaffold work, riggers, mast climbers, and gas piping inspectors. While rollout has officially only just started, the Worker Wallet will be required for workers in specialized roles by July 1, 2025. Get ready to streamline your credentials! Excavation and trench work, when not done properly, can be EXTREMELY hazardous to workers and the public ay large! According to the U.S. Department of Labor, nationwide 39 people died while performing excavation and trench work in 2022 – more than doubling the 2021 total. With an emphasis that a failure to follow construction codes and project-specific requirements can put both people and property at risk, we published a Construction Advisory on best safety practices for conducting excavation work: https://lnkd.in/ekAMTUNY And thank you to Safety+Health magazine for publishing a write up on the issue: https://lnkd.in/eqjkcRnz By following best practices for work site safety, together we can make a safer New York!

NYC is coming together to create a more sustainable future 🏗 🌎 Deadlines for Local Law 97 (NYC’s landmark emission reduction law) are looming and to educate the public on requirements of the law, we joined our friends at the Mayor’s Office of Climate and Environmental Justice and NYC Accelerator at the inaugural LL97 Compliance Expo and symposium! Team Sustainable NYC have been participating in hundreds of public events and stakeholder meetings to spread the word about both the legal requirements property owners face with LL97, as well as the ways the City can be a resource to help them achieve compliance under the law. With hundreds of stakeholders in attendance, this symposium is yet another example of how the administration is prioritizing educational outreach as a critical component of our mission to maximize the impact of this important climate law. “A key goal of the Get Sheds Down initiative is to improve the way sidewalk sheds in our city look, so that when they have to be in place to protect the public from dangerous overhead conditions, they aren’t detracting from our city’s streetscapes,” said Department of Buildings Commissioner Jimmy Oddo. “The City Canvas program goes a long way towards this goal by turning temporary construction equipment into public art galleries. We appreciate Council Member Rivera and the Council’s work to push this bill forward which will expand the program, and we also look forward to further action on their part to pass additional sidewalk shed legislation so we can fully realize our multifaceted Get Sheds Down plan.” Learn more about the new bill and how NYC is working to beautify our City streets: https://lnkd.in/eARF-RDq
