We recently had the opportunity host a pair of Triton subs - the Triton 3300/3 (yellow) and the Triton 3300/6 (blue) - during harbor trials. The deep water surrounding the pier at Derecktor Ft. Pierce offers easy access for Triton’s team to safely test their equipment. Derecktor Ft. Pierce was a proud sponsor of Project LIFT’s Fort Pierce Raft Race. These young people did an excellent job building their boats and the competition among them was wildly entertaining. S/Y ZEMI (Baltic 110) recently sailed into Derecktor Ft. Pierce for a metallic paint job and a short yard period. This all-carbon fast-cruising sloop was built for family global cruising adventures at pace. With support from Derecktor’s core team of local and South Florida-based subcontractors, the project was completed as swiftly as a 20-knot wind blows, allowing our client to get underway expeditiously. “We chose to come to Fort Pierce because it was close by, deep enough to access, and Derecktor ’s ability to get the work done,” said Jerry Ibberson, ZEMI engineer and rotational captain who helped manage the yard period. “Everything from the people who work in the yard to the nearby downtown has been fantastic.” Of course, no Derecktor Ft. Pierce project is complete without a proper celebratory barbecue with refreshing drinks for everyone who helped make this yard period successful! One of Westport L.L.C.’s largest superyachts, the 49.71m Night Howl, visited Derecktor Dania for service earlier this year. All work was done per ABS classification standards and included running gear overhaul, rudders, bottom blast with new coatings and Propspeed application. The job was completed within six weeks thanks to Derecktor’s talented tradespeople working alongside expert subcontractors. Atlas Marine Group, Naiad Stabilizers, CSS Hydraulics and Datum RMS supported this project and collectively worked around each other's schedule to stay on target. “We all understood the scope of work from the beginning and had to overcome a few unforeseen challenges to get this job done on time,” mentioned Adolfo Rosendo, president of Atlas Marine Group. “It demonstrated Derecktor’s ability to effectively manage a project by getting everyone working together to exceed the client’s expectations.”

Derecktor Dania was pleased to host M/Y Mary A, the multi-award-winning 55m superyacht launched by Feadship in 2005, for a four-week yard period this past winter. Derecktor’s team assessed the bottom paint condition and because she had not been blasted in a decade, determined the best course of action was to blast the bottom hull to bare steel before applying new protective coatings. NDT thickness measurement testing revealed significant material depreciation in a few areas, so additional tank plating, bulkheads and internal framing replacement were recommended. Her yard period also included sea valve maintenance. All these repairs and a few more were completed on time and budget, allowing Mary A to get underway for an important owner trip, thus exceeding our client’s expectations.
