Did you know today is National Hummingbird Day? We love these fierce, flying jewels. In Maricopa County, our most common species are the Anna's and Costa's hummingbird, but there are over 17 species found throughout the rest of Arizona. The Dancing Cactus can be found at the Preserve at Lone Mountain! This 78 acre preserve is forever protected through a conservation easement, which was a gift from H. B. and Jocelyn Wallace. The mountain is privately owned and it is not open to the public, but DFLT leads a hike to the top once a month. Join our email list for a chance to join us next month! https://buff.ly/3PZuAsJ #DFLT #LandTrust #Conservation #LandConservation #SonoranDesert #AZDesert #Arizona #AZ #LoneMountain #Scottsdale #ConservationEasement #Preserve #HikeAZ

Meet the Wilson's Warbler, a tiny bird with a big personality! This small songbird is easy to spot with its bright yellow feathers and black cap (on males). These energetic birds zip around forests and shrubby areas, catching insects on the wing. They're long-distance travelers, breeding in Canada and the northern U.S., then flying all the way to Central America for winter! Wilson's Warblers are known for their fast, chattering song and quick movements. They're often seen flicking their tails as they hop from branch to branch, always on the lookout for their next meal. They're currently migrating south for the winter, so look for them at Jewel of the Creek Preserve! #DFLT #LandTrust #Conservation #LandConservation #SonoranDesert #AZDesert #Arizona #AZ #Birds #WilsonsWarbler #Songbirds #Birdwatching #Birding #WildlifeWednesday
