💡 Can a time tracking app like DeskTime help you introduce more employee-friendly policies in your office? It sure can. ⏳ For example, we at DeskTime have practiced a flexible work schedule policy for years. It all started because of one designer—let's call him Jim. Jim was extremely talented and productive, just not early in the morning. We all have that one co-worker who's a real night owl, right? ❓ So what did we do? We realized it’s no good to force an excellent employee to adjust to a situation that doesn’t work for them, so we adjusted our work schedules instead. Now every DeskTime employee can start work anywhere from 8.00 to 11.00 am. ❗️ With a time tracking app like DeskTime, introducing a flexible schedule policy was a piece of cake. Now, our company can allow our employees the freedom to plan their own days, while still ensuring they work the required number of hours.

Will the right to disconnect from work become a new law❓ Since the pandemic, the European Parliament has called for new laws to ensure employees' right to disconnect from their work outside of work hours. This is a part of the EU’s effort to improve working conditions and decrease the number of unpaid overtime hours. However, for employees who are consistently given too much work, it’s hard to find solid data to back up just how overworked you are. This is where I think time tracking tools actually benefit both managers and employees: 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗴𝗲𝘁 𝗶𝗻𝗰𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘀𝗲𝗱 𝗮𝗰𝗰𝗼𝘂𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗻𝘀𝗽𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗰𝘆 𝗼𝗻 𝗯𝗼𝘁𝗵 𝘀𝗶𝗱𝗲𝘀. As a manager, you get to see what your employees are doing, but as an employee, you have proof of just how many hours you’re working. So, if your workload becomes too intense and you feel like you need to ask for support, you can rely on real data, not just a feeling.

The EU wants to make sure that all workers have a decent standard of living. While compared to the rest of the world, Europe ranks highly in terms of quality of life and wellbeing, there are big differences between EU countries. 🔌 Parliament called for a new EU law on “the right to disconnect” before the European elections, to make sure that employees can disconnect from work during non-work hours without consequence. Members recognised that longer working hours and being interrupted during non-working time can often result in unpaid overtime.   What do you think about this initiative?
