Thanks to #AdditiveMarking for the great collaboration! Recent tests at Desktop Metal’s Binder Jetting Center of Competence in Gersthofen, Germany (#ExOne) using a #DesktopMetal #InnoventX printer with a 10pl print head, Aquafuse Binder, and Standard 316L powder show how small Metal Binder Jetting (MBJ) can print readable Data Matrix Codes (DMCs).     Test Results (12×12 dots, 10 numerical characters):  • 2.84mm DMC – Readable from 0.8m  • 4.26mm DMC – Readable from 1.0m  • 5.68mm DMC – Readable from 1.2m  With these results, the InnoventX + 10pl print head meets GS1 GenSpecs for direct marking of small medical and surgical instruments, which require a max 5.94 mm² marking.  What’s next?  We’re expanding our tests to:  • Other materials like 17-4PH  • Exploring other InnoventX print heads  • Evaluating larger X-Series platforms  Exciting times ahead for Metal Binder Jetting & Traceability in Additive Manufacturing! Stay tuned for more updates. Want to learn more about the InnoventX system? 👉 Download the brochure here!  https://lnkd.in/geHVz26z

  • The thin features of this VVT gear would be challenging to machine or would require complex and expensive metal injection mold tooling. 3D printed on the Shop System with Desktop Metal binder jetting technology, this gear was produced without tooling, delivering faster lead times and cost reductions. Read the third part of our design for additive manufacturing series to learn how DfAM principles can be applied to help eliminate the need to for hard tooling with additive processes. https://hubs.li/Q037LP0r0
