Detroit Disability Power reposted this
Last week, our Housing Development Manager, Katie McAuley, and Chief People Officer, Irina Meza, spent time in Detroit, MI to discuss accessible housing with disabled residents, caretakers, real estate developers, property managers, service providers, designers, and planners. Throughout the week, our team connected with community members through resident listening sessions, roundtables with developers, designers, and service providers, and by tabling at community events. These engagements were made possible through partnerships with Detroit Disability Power City of Detroit Housing Revitalization & Department and Office of Disability Affairs, ULI Michigan, Disability Network Wayne County Detroit, and Eastside Community Network. The information gathered during these engagements will be compiled into a findings report and policy recommendations for The City of Detroit’s Housing & Revitalization Department. This initiative aims to encourage more accessible housing and enhance support for existing accessible housing initiatives to maximize their impact. We’re excited and honored to be a part of this work. . . . Image Description: Katie McAuley and Irina Meza are pictured standing and smiling with a group of people indoors.
