The care of the patient is our reason for existence.
About us
The nation's largest not-for-profit dialysis provider operating under the mission, "The care of the patient is our reason for existence." The primary responsibility of DCI is to perceive, initiate, and provide comprehensive patient care. We serve society by providing care for patients with End-Stage Renal Disease. Our goal is complete patient rehabilitation. We recognize the patient as an individual resulting from his or her genetics, life experience, habits, beliefs, and emotions and as a member of his or her family and the community. The patient deserves the highest standard of care possible regardless of race, status, or creed. The application of comprehensive care is on a personal level. We become acquainted with our patient as a person and seek to understand his or her problems and needs -- physical, emotional, spiritual, and social. DCI began serving people with kidney failure in 1971. DCI proudly gives back to society through research and education because we believe people with kidney disease should be able to live the best life possible. We provide options- home hemodialysis, peritoneal dialysis, and in-center hemodialysis- as well as encouragement for transplantation.

As we celebrate Registered Dietitian Nutritionist Day, we pause to highlight another wonderful Dietitian. Meet Deb, RDN, CDN, serving the nutrition needs of DCI patients in a Connecticut clinic for nearly three years. Deb loves teaching nutrition to patients and feeling like she has a direct impact on improving their quality of life, a role she takes seriously and cherishes. Deb enjoys creative approaches to patient education and has been the driving force behind several clinic lobby days and themed events. Continually going above and beyond, she recently introduced a dog therapy program for patients and employees to relax and de-stress. Deb appreciates how she feels valued and can use her experience in a way that works best for her DCI patients. Outside of work, Deb volunteers in music programs at local nursing homes, enjoys camping, kayaking, reading, singing and spending time with her family, including her husband of 37 years, her sons and her cats. Deb, we are so thankful to have passionate dietitians like you who make nutritional education fun and inspiring. Happy Registered Dietitian Nutritionist Day!
