Dick Anderson Construction just set a new precedent for safety standards in the construction industry. After a rigorous review by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), DAC is now certified as an OSHA Voluntary Protection Program Star Participant, OSHA’s highest level of recognition. We’re the only General Contractor in the Denver Region of OSHA (MT, SD, ND, CO, UT, WY) to receive this recognition. (Nationally, only one of every 5,000 companies has earned this title.) But it’s not the title or the award that makes us proud. It’s what it took to get here and the level of safety that we continue to uphold at DAC. To get VPP status, OSHA examines four major elements: — management leadership and employee involvement — worksite analysis — hazard prevention and control — safety and health training DAC excelled in all four elements, and we were recommended for the highest level in the program (Star). Why? 🚧 DAC has demonstrated injury and illness rates 50-60 percent below the industry average. 🚧 Our Recordable Incident Rate (RIR) is four times lower than the Montana average and three times lower than the national average. 🚧 Our Experience Modification Rate (EMR) is 50% lower than the national average. (An EMR is the number insurance companies use to calculate the cost of workers' compensation insurance for a business.) What’s more, OSHA saw that “safety” isn’t just something we talk about. It’s something we do. It’s woven into the fabric of our operations here at DAC. This VPP certification doesn’t change anything; it just confirms that we’re doing it right—not just at a compliance level but above and beyond. In other words, we prioritize safety, period. We want our workers to return home to their families and loved ones at the end of the day. I want to congratulate Skyler Willard CSP, CMSP, our Vice President of Safety, his team, and our entire DAC crew for their commitment to keeping operations safe here at DAC. ____ #safety #compliance #construction #OSHA #constructionindustry
