Dawes and Sioux Counties sit on the northern edge of the Nebraska Panhandle. The unique combination of the topography of the Pine Ridge and hundreds of thousands of acres of public land make Northwest Nebraska an outdoor playground. No matter where your interests lie, you can do it here. We have unparalleled opportunities to hunt and fish, hike, bike, horseback ride and camp. In addition to outdoor opportunities, there is rich history in this part of the country. A rich fossil record, Native American heritage and the experiences of early fur traders, cavalry and buffalo soldiers can all be found in Northwest Nebraska, telling the story of the west. If you’re interested in history, check out our museums and consider staying in the old barracks at Fort Robinson. No matter what you’re after, if you want to get off of the beaten path and discover something new, Northwest Nebraska is your destination.
