Ever since I was a kid watching Dragons' Den, I’ve been fascinated by entrepreneurship—people turning great ideas into amazing businesses. Fast forward 15 years, and while I have to say I favour Shark Tank over Dragons' Den (A debate for another day), my love for entrepreneurship hasn’t changed. This is why working with Laura Fullerton ⚡️and the Monk team has been such a blast! Laura is a powerhouse—an operator with incredible energy, building a fantastic business. I did it! I conquered the ice bath challenge at IdeaFest —and I stayed in for 8 whole minutes! The toe tip in the water was followed by loud entry into the ice bath was always going to be my way - huge apologies to the folks enjoying a sound bath next door, just a bit of extra theatrical noise for effect. The mental prep for doing something new, in a field with the possibility of the changing tent blowing away with me standing in side was very real - this is definitely not my usual comfort level! I had no doubt in my mind I was doing this, no chickening out allowed, a LinkedIn announcement with lots of you awaiting for my update was peer pressure I created lol Laura Fullerton ⚡️ and the team Monk I would absolutely do this again - I surprised myself big time staying in for 8 whole minutes (I like round numbers so stayed in until I go to 8)! I don’t have space for one of these at home, however if I did I’d absolutely buy one - reading the benefits I can see why everyone started doing the Wim Hof Method, the most empowering part of this experiences was having the absolute power of being able to control my mind. Just like in business, sometimes you have to step outside your comfort zone to break through limits, this was also a huge reminder that sometimes you just have to say F*ck It - word of the week and probably for the rest of the year is Experimentation! Cold tubs are getting an upgrade. Monk secured £2M in funding for its smart ice bath – featuring integrated cooling and high-aesthetic hardware. A connected experience, its app delivers guided sessions, immersive soundscapes and breathwork, plus wearable integrations to quantify cold water therapy’s impact on HRV, sleep and other biometrics. The company counts pro boxer Anthony Joshua, Oura co-founder Petteri Lahtela and BrewDog founder James Watt among its backers.

I'm thrilled to share that we've hit Monk's fundraising target of £2MM! I had 201 rejections. But I also made choices – I turned down one fund and several individuals who wanted to invest, because I didn’t believe they were the right fit. It’s not a fun decision to say no to money during one of the toughest fundraising climates in over a decade. But I don’t think founders realise the gravity of giving someone equity in their business – there's no way I'd let even a friendly fox into my hen house, when it's the thing I live and breathe. I have been *so* fortunate to have the most incredible investors back our journey, including the co-founder of Oura Petteri Lahtela (one of my favourite health tech companies), boxer Anthony Joshua, my Chairman and friend James Watt, and Jo Dalton (my biggest supporter and cheerleader!), and many more. Every pound raised is a vote of confidence in our vision to lead, shape, and innovate in the cold water therapy space. Now back to building…
