Five years ago, Discovery Education had an idea: What if a group of partners across different industries came together to transform the educational experience for millions of students, providing tangible connections to the possibilities of the future? Could this Coalition of partners, by working together, not only expose students to the breadth of opportunities in STEM, but also inspire them to see the similarities in skillsets necessary for real-world opportunities? Could we, as a collective, shine a light on diverse careers and underrepresented segments of the workforce by fostering meaningful and lasting change in STEM education and workforce readiness? Thanks to the unwavering support of so many - we can, and we did. Today, we celebrate an important milestone of the STEM Careers Coalition reaching 10+ million students. This incredible achievement is a testament to the power of collaboration and the unwavering commitment of our industry and education partners to prepare the next generation for the future. ⚡🔌 What an inspiring couple of days at #PowerUpPhilly! I had the privilege to learn from dynamic leaders and changemakers who are committed to uplifting Black communities. Today's panel featuring Daniel Miller-Uueda, STEAM Curriculum Specialist at The School District of Philadelphia, Alejandra Ceja, Executive Director of the Panasonic Foundation & VP of Social Impact and Inclusion at Panasonic North America, Erica McLeod, Corporate Social Responsibility Manager at Subaru of America, and Deidra Parrish Williams, Director of Global CSR & Community Affairs at Trane Technologies was especially insightful. Panelists shared tangible solutions and powerful insights on advancing racial and social justice, expanding economic opportunities, and increasing access to essential services for Black Americans. From supporting young learners with paid internships to fostering community through ERGs and local partnerships, they also emphasized the importance of equipping educators with the tools necessary to prepare students for the future. These important conversations have left me feeling energized and excited to continue this essential work. 💜 #Leadership #EconomicEmpowerment #WorkforceDevelopment #SocialJustice #Equity
